I get it that she'll run in the Mares but this being jocked up thing doesn't mean horses are certain to run in that race does it ?

Can’t be jocked up until declared. Technically.
Some outlets will slot them in as and when - usually when stable jockey or owner contracted.

Yeah just on the normal BHA website when going on the races.

Not if they could be certain they'd get that amount. Only problem is they can't double declare like the old days and the worst of the rain is forecast after decs time. HDB has already said her optimum these days is probably 2m on really testing ground or 2 1/2 on decent ground. IMO she'd get the former now so I'm hoping they have a rethink. I don't see her winning the Mares on testing ground.

Would they not much rather her finish her career 3rd in a Champion Hurdle v a Superstar or get beat for stamina in a Mares Hurdle?

I do think they are doing the wrong thing. She'll probably have a harder race in the Mares as well. Poor old Honey.

To be fair, Henry all but admitted this today. Said they’d only run in the Churdle if the main players came out (which they won’t).

They also said at one point that it'll be the Champion Hurdle or Retirement and that the Mares was not an option. They should have stuck with that imo. Shame.

I actually hope Honeysuckle gets beat.... this mantra that "we can cheer her on despite no money on" is a crock of shit. It's the Mares Hurdle.... no-one should give a fuck. (I will cheer her on, I do have money on).... but......


If she won the Champion Hurdle and you didn't have a penny on GO NUTS..... she wins a 3rd CH, defending her crown against the up and coming superstar... then tears will be shed.

The staff have been brilliant; the clerk of the course has performed miracles, the stable staff are everyday heroes, the crowd are resplendent, I am very tall and patronising and ridiculously sentimental. We might not have tiger roll this year but we have honeysuckle the queen of Cheltenham and possibly the greatest horse since Arkle. We need to put aside our broader concern for racing’s welfare, forget about the governments white paper, the black market, the whip controversy, cast away thoughts of intrusive affordability checks and brace ourselves for the greatest show on earth
