  • I know I'm late to this and I love honeysuckle, but I honestly hope she loses in the Mares, just doesn't sit right with me they've decided to go this route this retire her!

        • Actually think the Mares could be tougher than the Churdle. She'll surely be left in the Champion just in case CH steps on a stone. Great memories though, especially beating Benie.

It strikes me as a bit of a no win situation really, if she runs in the champion and finishes placed they would have thought they could have won the mares. If she bolts up in the mares they will think what might have been in the champion.

The sad reality is she will probably do neither!

There's nothing wrong with them picking the easier race but it's all subjective.
If they think beating MR/BL/Epatante/EIR/LE is easier than beating/placing CH/SM then more fool them in my opinion.

There’s not but they’ve not helped themselves with the CH or retire chat then this, I think is what we all can agree on.

Not sad though is it. She's been there and done it several times. She's ready for her slippers and pipe now.

Agree, seems a bit sad her running in the mares. Maybe once it's set in a bit more they might take a step back, and think, maybe it's best to retire her. If they don't think she can win the Churdle, then let the girl retire. Which I can still see happening personally.

She'd be more competitive in a Pipe

Suggesting giving birth and motherhood is easy lands you in all sorts of trouble these days.

Wait to see if Honey lines up, and wait to see how the stayers looks.
Will he want both Epatante and MR in the same ultra competitive race?
Will he try and win both?
Im trying my best to get her covered for both.
I personally think she has serious chances in either, but think the stayers offers her the best chance of winning.
Be very interesting how it pans out.
Would love to be a fly on the wall when they are discussing!!
My only issue with the Stayers is that she travels so strongly so she may take too much out of herself. She's a multiple Grade 1 winner in her sex at the distance, including at the course. Introduce her to 3m at Aintree and then go for the Stayers next year if takes to the distance at Aintree.

There's a lot of talk about going for the "easier" race when it's a Mares race and it's spoken of really negatively (see Honey debate), surely if MR moves up in distance for the "easier" race at Cheltenham, it's just as disappointing from a sporting perspective even if it does mean taking on the boys?

                            • The stayers isn't an easier race than facing honeysuckle anyway

You run in the stayers you'll be potentially facing the two horses that beat her in the hattons grace

Over a trip Marie's rock (a keen going not certain to stay) is completely unproven over

                              • The trip may well bring further improvement for Marie's Rock who is currently only 3lbs behind Teahupoo with her allowance. Her running in the race would be brilliant as well as it'll add so much more value to what looks a very open race.
