….at the beginning of last month (6th Nov) he said she was ‘still in pre-training’ & hadn’t arrived back with him yet. She would be ‘aimed at the Mares Hurdle’ and the intention is to avoid right handed tracks.

    Worth noting her record after a lengthy break;

    301 Days - won
    312 Days - won
    78 Days - won.

David Jennings did reply to me at the start of this month telling me she was back in full training. Don't know if anyone can add anything more to that or not :/

I tend to take a bit of comfort from PP/Betfair S being lowest price on her at 3-1 after a significant price cut earlier this month. For now at least.....

Agree she's no Quevega and that the race is more competitive so she may not win without a run, but I'm more comfortable with Willie bringing her to this race without a run than any other trainer.

My bigger concern would be that SWIW was qualified for the pertemps and they've blown that mark. Would she have gone for the mares race if brandy was definitely A1 or is it an early indirect sign to be worried as the pornstar replacement has been found?

Don't think SWIW would affect her participation regardless?

No, but if SWIW was aimed at Pertemps earlier in year (not unreasonable to think given she's been campaigned differently to last year with multiple handicap hurdle runs, rather than just mares graded run) and then gets rerouted to Mares Hurdle, that would be a concerning sign for me. Obviously don't know if that's actually the case yet though

                  I don't see how that'd be a concern.

Do you think Willie will only send 1 mare, his 'best mare' to the race?

That's never happened in the race before, he's even had two in the same ownership do battle....

So I think you're over thinking it

Firstly, yep it's entirely possible I'm overthinking!

Secondly, nope I think he will send several mares to the race. My concern is the specific situation that a horse who wasn't going down that route may have been switched down that route could be an early negative sign for brandy. Of course this could just as easily have just been a good opportunity for SWIW at the weights which then means she can't go the pertemps route (if that was ever the plan).

Thirdly, yep it's entirely possible I'm overthinking!

I'd be more than happy for her to turn up without a run. She's really good off a break as her record above shows.

She's another key horse in my multiples so I hope all is well. There's no reason to worry......yet!

                      • The drift on Marie's Rock is a concern. Will be interesting to see how she runs.

Assume Nico got the pick between her and First Street? Think you might want Maries Rock narrowly beaten today if you've backed for the Mares tbh.

                              Don't expect much from today

She will just be out for a jog around to blow away the cobwebs

Nicky won't have her at full fitness today, just a stepping stone
