I agree with the price comment - far too short.

Ah ok, strange that because I've had the same thing when pondering facile vega to myself in the past, catch myself referring to him as her/she

Agree. Don't think it's the ideal preparation for the MNH. They are just thinking further ahead re the black type. Can't blame them but I don't see her winning in March.

She'll get a different ride in March. She appeared to be ridden with exaggerated hold up tactics today in the hope the race fell apart.

Looks like she'll be Wille's number 1 hope at this stage.

Not sure. Think he might have another one or two that could be better. Her confidence will be hit potentially after two defeats and two ultra tough races.

Inclined to agree here, she obviously sets the standard for now but it would not be willies MO usually to run his no1 MNH prospect out of the company of their own sex particularly in graded contests.

That said I’m struggling to think of many other novice mares he have that may be putting themselves in the picture for this. I noticed hip hop Davis was entered for a race but not declared over Xmas so we may see her soon

                • Is anyone else still completely mystified as to this race. Have a small roll up for a point on the fav for this before her last run but I don’t particularly fancy her at the current price. But she’s at least a contender and can’t be ruled out just yet. None of the Irish mares have impressed me as of yet as well which isn’t helping. Will have another proper look tomorrow but of all the festival non-handicaps as of right now, this is the race I’ve least idea who not only I would back but who I want to avoid. A minefield of a race and quite possibly one I don’t have an antepost bet in come March (the Lucia rollup is literally 1 point so I’m not really counting that as a proper bet).

Would love to see something to get me excited about the race. A proper performance in the next three or four weeks from something.

                  • Lot of Joy may put herself firmly into the picture today with an impressive win. Her close debut defeat to Inothewayurthinkin can obviously be marked up a fair bit after what that one did next time and she has been backed in over the last couple of days for March. Her flat form entitles her to be very competitive if transferred to hurdles.

                    Willie's comments.......

'We’ve kept her for this race. We were looking for a mares’ maiden but there wasn’t one that suited her, so we decided to come to Leopardstown. She’ll have no problem with the ground, the experience of her run at Cork will stand her in good stead and she’s one who is carrying a lot of hopes from Closutton. Her Flat form suggests two-and-a-half miles will be right up her street.'

Quite the opposite actually, see the race being between Halka Du Tabert, Luccia and Ashroe Diamond. I believe the royal bond to be a key piece of form which puts Ashroe bang there and the other 2 are closely tied through Eabh Grace. HDT probably the value bet currently.

                        in a potentially weak division
definitely could be an each way play
tanked through race, fluffed second last
and ran on well after last

Couldn't agree more with you about Halka. I'm expecting willie to have another one we haven't seen yet, he's campaigned ashroe diamond too similiarly to statuaire last season and she wasn't considered stable number 1, dare i say facile vegas full sister is lurking there in the stable somewhere. The solerina will be a key race to sort out irelands number 1 contender for this

I'm really excited by Luccia and she is a strong bet for me. I have less than 1pt on her as a single so am curious how many points would make it a proper one for you? A proper bet for me is 1pt as that is my average cash stake.

                              • Don’t think FV sister will be in the mix, vibes from the owners were she was decent but they weren’t jumping up and down about her (albeit this was early in the season)

Equally I do not see Luccia being diverted to supreme, highlighted it before it’s not Nickys style to run a good mare against 2m geldings at the festival. She’s taking the talworth run cause the timing suits & she likes the track. In all seriousness it will not be near the quality competition you’d face in a supreme come March.

and the fact it’s the owners first chance at a Cheltenham winner or a major win at all (biggest win they have beyond her is a grade 3 handicap in 2018).

If people even consider her good enough to run in a supreme then she is surely a shoe in for MNH, as an owner you’d go for the easier race to secure that 1st festival winner.
