I agree the performance wasn’t as good given the odds but I equally don’t think we will see the best of this horse until it steps up in trip

Very lazy on my part as the owner had Penhill, who had a completely different profile
Then again, I don't really like horses who haven't shown they 'find' when asked, so travelling as well as he did but not getting the job done is a bit of a red flag for me.

from my view I don’t think it was that he didn’t find much … I just felt by the time Patrick started to react then there wasn’t much of a run in left to show whether he does or not

I won't be backing him ante post, and the stage of the season where over-thinking must be rife, but my interest has been piqued reading Paul Nicholls say they'll run Captain Teague in the Bumper.
He is quite a nice horse, and he is going to have an entry in the Champion Bumper. We don’t have many run in the bumper and the last one I think was Al Ferof who finished second to Cue Card. He is a nice horse by Doyen, and he’s had two runs and won a point-to-point in Ireland last year very impressively and we took him to Plumpton before Christmas for a National Hunt Flat race, and he hosed in. I’m not going to say he is going to win the Champion Bumper or anything like that, but we are running out of options where to run him before he goes hurdling next year. The ground is going to be safe that early part of the week and will probably be good to soft so we will let him take his chance in the bumper. If he finished fifth or sixth, I would be delighted with him, and he will be a lovely horse to go novice hurdling with next season. He will be one of our better horses next year.
No real reason to play it down, but chance this horse is a wild old price on the day with extra places and things.
The 2nd from his win hasn't run, but the 3rd and 4th have both been out and won on next start.
Just to confirm, wouldn't back at the current 25/1, I am pretty sure he'll be that on the day or bigger.

Now that's quite clearly not as bullish as you can get from Nicholls, and it's probably true and honest, but it just seems strange when the combination of Nicholls and owner (de la Hey) have often skipped Cheltenham completely... with no runner since Al Ferof for the trainer, it just has to be noted IMO.

he was very positive on the chances of captain Teague and said something along the lines of he’s had a massive each way bet on the horse and it’ll run.
