    I'll probably re-back KoK though
Bumpers are giving us 7yo Novice Hurdlers and 8 and 9yo Novice Chasers, it's a real mess-up to me.

Just have them for 4yo and 5yo only.

Any 5yos have to end Bumpers by NYE, and go hurdling.

If you want to have a Championship race maybe hold it then, over Christmas period (or before)......or for 4yo/5yo in the Spring.

At least that means that nearly all Novice Hurdlers will be 6yo or less (in Spring).

....and Novice Chasers 7yo and less (unless they have stayed hurdling 2yrs or more)

Having 'Novice' anything at 8yo or even 9yo seems really odd, like youre trying to avoid taking on the big-wide-world of open company.

It feels like having loads of pupils in schools that are aged 35 or 40.....!

      • Yea I find it bizarre horses going from the Irish point to point field to spend a year running in NHF. If they can jump around ditches over 3 miles in all sorts of ground why are they running on flat grass for a whole season?

Between Waters for example, her P2P run she looked a super chaser in the making now she’s had 1 bumper run which was disappointing and has to hang around for another year.

I understand it’s there to the develop course experience or whatever but Sax ideas for cut off parameters by NYE are good.

Bumpers in Ireland have strong heritage.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned it in here before but the Punchestown festival has about ten of them, whereas there were precious few bumpers in the UK until the introduction of the Cheltenham bumper.

I completely agree having 6yo and older running in bumpers has to be wrong, used as an introduction to professional racing for 4yo and 5yo is fine but beyond that you’re right, National Hunt horses should be jumping…

Presume that would be a big negative for his chances

….Mullins said in his stable tour that he would be ‘in the mix if he got in’. Suggests to me there’s no intention for a further run but he’ll go if making the cut.

                  • Down Memory Lane entered for Elliott at Fairyhouse. Loved his PTP win and been waiting to see if Elliott would enter him in a bumper.

                    40/1 NRNB with Bet365.

In a race won by Ferny Hollow, O'Toole and Fury Road in recent years.

May not be a Cheltenham Bumper winner but impossible to resist for me at 40/1 NRNBOG

As mentioned, also Dr Eggman 33/1 (Ricci) and Dancing City now only 16s (Donnelly) entered too..... and immediately drawn to Apple's Of Bresil for Barry Connell although don't think he's entered for the festival

                            • How many of these sodding bumper horses will I have to actually back Kevloaf? I’ve come back from the pub to find another four and I think that might actually have broken me

It's gonna be a huge field bumper with loads of once and twice raced horses any of which could improve a tonne

Give up on the race ante post and do some random pin sticking on the day is my strategy I reckon

It should be 8/1 the field really
