Thanks. Makes sense he had the choice. Swan seems to be a decent understudy anyway. Looks the best bumper of the season anyway.

Not that I hears but I do know himself and the Browns get on very well so maybe that's it?

        • The market atm is very much suggesting codd is on the wrong one

They do both have to give 7lb to the mullins horse though

But Swan takes it back on KOK. Must say, I’ve been more impressed by Swan’s riding over Xmas than I have Mullins’ so far. So he’s not at a disadvantage in that respect.

            • First time headgear for KoK too. He didn’t seem to need any assistance on debut but it could bring out some additional improvement too.

              • Did I Ask You That and Pour Les Filles both given 124rprs for the Leopardstown Bumper.

In a less than vintage year ( so far) maybe Did I could be the special one after all.

That rating certainly gives him place prospects.

Facile Vega was given 128 for his debut in the same race a year ago and CB runner up American Mike earned a 126 on debut.

So maybe Did I’s run was not so shabby after all.

Patrick did give him a supremely (over?) confident ride and had he not gone for home so soon I think we’d be looking at a rating at least similar to the one American Mike posted.

So at 33-1 I’ve gone in again.

Totally realise rprs do not necessarily provide an accurate definition of a horse’s level of ability BUT debut rprs have been right on the money in sorting the wheat from the chaff in this race over the last 4 or 5 years.

And visually Did I Ask You That looked much better than Chapeau De Soleil in my opinion.

Sure both horses had excuses but the former still earned 124 while the latter was given a modest 112.

If you back Chapeau at 10-1 you’ve got to be hoping for him to improve at least a stone next time. Maybe he will but it’s a pretty tall order.

Meanwhile, the horse pushed out to 33-1 is already in the mix and surely capable of better if given a more judicious ride.

It’ll be interesting to see what Fact To File gets. My guess is maybe somewhere in the 118-124 range. But I’m not sure the Chamion Bumper will suit him as well as Did I unless it comes up very soft.

                • Fact To File seems to be more suitable for longer given his PtP and NHF races, won going away on soft at 2m4f. Is this realistically his target or will he be heading for more staying races?

                  • Great post nortonscoin200 and certainly gets you thinking. Itll probably be wise to monitor Its for me who is running in a bumper this week. He could be another that can throw his name into the ever growing hat.

It was a very slowly run race so Fact to File could step back for me and still be effective in a strongly run bumper over 2m.
