    Plenty of debate for this month's Yankee which is good.

    A few interesting things in here that's making sense to me (as much sense as can be expected when picking four horses to run and win races due to take place in 4 month's time);

    1) As Eggs points out, we'll aim to stick to the 4 specified trainers. However, if there is a really good case made by someone, I might leave out one trainer and go with 2 selections from the same trainer as we'll still be sticking to the same talent pool.

    2) Good points have been made about including those who have disappointed or were in need of a run. Very few horses get to March with a string of 1's against their name, plus the news dropped today that Gordon has changed his methods this season to have them match fit come festival time. What horses do you think will come on for their run and/or deserve a second chance? I see Tekao has already been mentioned, who else?

    3) I'd like to have selections with confirmed targets for March so we know they'll be lining up barring injury

      Elliott) Conflated - Gold Cup - 50/1. Elliott admits he might've got the trip wrong last year. Was impressive when falling behind Allaho. Won the Irish GC and needed the run first time out this year (and didn't disgrace himself in thrid).

      Henderson) Walking on Air - Stayers - 50/1. Impressive novice over the mid trip last year. Surprised he was kept over hurdles. Nicky likes him a lot and thinks he could be right up there in the division this year.

      HDB) Arctic Bresil - Albert Bartlett - 40/1. Struggling with this a bit ... hasn't got a hugely deep squad this year, not as deep as the other 3 anyway. I like Arctic Bresil who was unlucky in his PTP (UR) when going well. Second to also fancied Present Soldier in his second maiden PTP. Confirmed as going hurdling this year and a 6yo which is better, IMO for the staying hurdles divisions.
      I like this and am giving it consideration

        ….I particularly like the Pink in the Park shout, definite target (Mullins stable tour). From what I can see, there is a spread of prices for her ranging from top 33-1 (PP) to 14-1 (Hills). If none of Exar Essay suggestions are selected this month, he makes a good case for next months e/w effort.

          That Horse The yankee was always about using 1 horse from each of the 4 trainers. Please stick with the 4 trainers.

              I would suggest :-

              A Plus Tard (GC)
              Chemical Energy (NHC)
              Energumene (QM)
              Luccia (MNH)

                Do we need to restrict it to one from each trainer?

                If That Horse finds two stand out horses are we really going to rule one of them out because they are with the same trainer? It could end up being a costly decision.

                  Must be a distinct possibility Henry doesn’t have any winners at the Festival.

                  Be interesting to see what odds you’d get from the bookies, maybe 13-8.

                  That’s not intended as a put down of Honeysuckle, she’s an absolute legend.

                  But the only reason for backing A Plus Tard now is surely the drift in price and a religious faith in him recapturing his sparkle.

                  That may well happen - but you certainly couldn’t bank on it. There was a time when GC winners often failed to win another race of any kind for the rest of their career

                  And it may be that Telmesomethinggirl is Henry’s best chance of a win in a division which lacks a star performer.

                  Regarding the odds for trainers drawing a blank at the Fez I’d say 40-1 Willie, 20-1 Hendo and 9-2 Gordie.

                    I'd second this one, has a nice look to it.

                      The first halves in the football have been shite tonight so I spent the majority of them going through comments here and getting selections out tonight so people can get on before the weekend when one of them is due to run.

                      I started out with an idea of adding two shorties and two bigger priced selections but there's been varied comments in here on different ways of looking at what we've seen since the start of the season. Happy to adjust my thoughts and take on board those opinions so here you go;

                      Queen's Brook - mares hurdle
                      Shishkin - champion chase
                      Bob O - stayers
                      Pink in the Park - mare's novice
                      23119/1 on PP/Betfair

                      And the second halves have picked up!

                        …..many thanks for volunteering, Matey. It wasn’t the easiest compilation to make, diplomatically handled. Hopefully Shishkin shows his well being this weekend.

                          No worries mate, really struggled adding one of Henry's to be honest. From a selfish perspective, I've already got A Plus Tard in my book for March and not a bean on Bob so that pretty much swayed my opinion!

                          A Yankee with Bob and Shishkin giving some value, how times change
