….from his comments, I got the impression Townend was a bit surprised with how ZTB quickened up from off the pace, went through the leading pack and put daylight between himself and the rest.

Perhaps he’s just better than they thought. Townend suggested he’ll improve lots. It must occasionally happen that a horse surprises & the pecking order at home changes when a horse runs.

Id say this happens way more frequently than we think, they can be anything at home track is where it counts

Yes there a plenty of horses who perform much better on the track than their work at home suggests and vice versa

The nice guy would be a good recent example

Townend did mention he thought it was a bit of both, the horses going hard and then emptying so it may have looked like an even better turn of foot than it looked. He was able to sit off the pace and looked comfy the whole way up the straight which is what you want to see.

What Mullins horses do we think could be better than ZTB at home ?

Lossiemouth... Bar that last flight at Auteuil, she jumped like a natural, I have very high hopes for her this season. Also the way Townend spoke about ZTB, I got the feeling he knew there's better at home also.

…I think he has Tekao, he’s been mentioned by a few.

The 3 on my radar are the 2 mentioned (Lossiemouth and Tekao) above and Gala Marceau.

I had cashed out ZTB before his run as I thought his form was worst of the four Mistake.

Risk Belle was my favourite from France but no mention of her in the stable tours.

                    • It's one of the few races at the Festival where he goes in mob handed. 3 or 4 in the race in recent renewals so he could chuck all those mentioned into it.

They've been mentioned above but hopefully Gala, Lossiemouth or Takeo. I've sided more with Tekao. The better ones normally come out later around Christmas. He was mentioned to come out at Christmas.

Even more likely to be my handed this year given the amount that have already won over hurdles and can’t take the year off.

Yep. A couple will go down the Boodles route, probably those with previous hurdle runs.

I thought she was quite big at a few, looks a future chaser to me. I thought Gala Marceau was generally slicker over her obstacles.

Gala Marceau and Lossiemouth I reckon, though not heard much about the former, apart from another entry in France recently but she's not been declared for that now.

Nothing in the stable tours yet, as far as I'm aware
