McTigue took the route you take round Auteuil where you don't want to win.
Definitely planning for handicaps. After beating St Donats last time the market also told you what you needed to know.Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

However, to think the run in the grade 1 was to get a handicap mark seems silly, given the prize money on offer on Sunday and he'd beaten the favourite over course and distance previously.
It looked a deliberate move by the jockey and who knows why they chose to do that
But I'd be pretty sure it wasn't to help him win a future handicap. I think Emmet is smarter than that.
The prize money for Sunday was over 5x what the Boodles pays !
And the value of the horse to sell on would have been substantially increased.
IMO, They were trying to win the race for sure, and it went wrong. And he wasn't good enough on the day.

Have you heard anything about Blood Destiny who finished 2nd in that race?

Only one bookmaker priced up for the Triumph so far, so I won't be getting involved pre-race.

….Mullins re Tekao today;
“A very sharp horse, a real 3yo hurdle type. He won on the flat, jumps fine at home but I expect him to be a little green because he hasn’t had a lot of experience racing. He only had one run on the flat so it’s a big learning curve for him over hurdles & learning how to race too but he was impressive on that start & the form is working out well. He’s fit and well and could win but whatever he does on Sunday he will improve an awful lot in the future.”
