  • Does anyone think ZTB could possibly turn that form around. Was in the wrong spot. Then seemed hurried and then got last couple of hurdles wrong, where Lossiemouth winged them. I’ll have to look at the race back.

        ….ZTB 12-1 365, Lossiemouth into best price 4-1 (2-1 a/r).

        • Fair to say Willie was pretty happy with Lossiemouth...

"That looked very good. She came with a nice reputation from France and has been working nicely at home but that's certainly way better than anything she has shown us before," Mullins revealed.

"Today was just a finding out mission to see what we had and it looks like we have found a good one.

"Danny said he could have gone at any stage. He said her jumping was very good and she has so much scope. She was very good.

"We've found out a lot today and we will look forward to the future with her. We'll have a look at Leopardstown at Christmas and see what the penalty structure is and there is also the Grade 1 at the Dublin Racing Festival."

Possibly but Lossiemouth was wide most of the race so gave up a lot of ground there.

I'm sure he will have learnt a lot from that race but may just not be as good as his stablemate.

Yeah sounds surprised, and that probably confirms him as the stables #1 Triumph horse, which is disappointing for us Gala Marceau backers...

                • Lossiemouth looked as good as any of the mares Willie has had over the years in her first run for him.
She looked a nice size too, although that might have been exaggerated by the camera angle.
I though she did it very easily.
Like Danny said, she could have gone at any time.
I'd be very surprised if any of those in behind can improve past her.

I can’t see anything reversing that form, if anything she’d likely beat them all further later in the season.

Agreed. She beat the best two horses we’ve seen this year to date too. The only way she’ll be beat at Cheltenham is by one we haven’t seen yet IMO.

Yep. Easily the best we've seen so far.

                        • She’d only come on going left handed also, lost ground at almost every hurdle but picked up nicely, showed great acceleration and will appreciate the Cheltenham hill.

Willie still has the following juveniles yet to debut I believe maybe with 1 or 2 more:

Billericay Dickie, Blood Destiny, Cinsa, Daddy Long Legs, Fleur Au Fusil, Gala Marceau, Implicit, Joueur Masque, Jourdefete, Paggane +

From memory only a couple have had entries. Some will no doubt have late campaigns with a view to keeping novice status if it doesn’t pan out, and some will be held back completely. Now that they know they’ve got a good one in Lossiemouth I’d say a fair few could be held back.

                              • Nothing against Lossiemouth's performance yesterday, but she looks a chaser in the making, to my eye.

That, of course, doesn't mean she can't win a Triumph first, just an observation and note I made about her.
