I'd be surprised if they took Daryl off him now.

Paul may have the choice within Willies' most of the time, but when it boils down to it the owners actually have final say. It's just that some don't say much.
I'd say that Jacon knows he's very lucky to get what he's given and if Paul T (Willie) wants his best jockey on his best Arkle horse then that WILL happen.

I'd have it odds on that Paul T rides El Fabiolo in the Arkle now

Jacob will sit back, take it like a man and pick up whatever rides he can..... if he throws his toys out the pram, he gets repalced and he's a no-one.

Wouldn't make a significant difference to me either way though

    • From what I've read on here I take it JOB has said Banbridge is now targeting the Turner's ??

Agree. Think I'll have to back him for next year's GC.

          All fair enough.
but my main point was the horse isn’t Paul’s or willies
so the owner’s will decide in this case.
If I was the owner I’d let Daryl ride

              Big relief to hear that!

I like Banbridge but he was never put in the race, so very hard to know how he’d go in the Turners against opposition unlikely to go as hard as Dysart.
I'm not convinced about Ruby's assessment, however, he's the ex professional jockey and not me so I'll take his word for it.

In which case maybe Dysart will go closer to holding on. I believe he's actually a tough old horse, and a talented one at that, but you can't set a target on your back like that and not expect some to be challenging you in Grade 1, but I did think he saw it out quite well given his early exertions.

Hopefully Danny gets the fractions right in the Arkle.

                • My understanding is the agreement between Willie and Simon Munir/Isaac Souede is that Paul T gets first choice and if he decides on another horse, like Appreciate It today, then Daryl J gets the ride, like El Fabiola today. Not the same agreement with JP as Mark Walsh gets first option. Net net, Paul T and Willie get first option on all Simon Munir/Isaac Souede horse trained by Willie.

Owner doesn't decide though. We know that already from Fallout Boy (hahahhaa, couldn't remember the name Footpad, and I'm leaving that in) ...... Cartoon Dog's super tip, Fallout Boy.....

We do know, you're lying to yourself if you think Munir actually 'decides'..... his two penneth is worth literally that.

He said nothing of the sort. Lydia tried to get him to say that, he said he'll be entered in both.

However, the future GOAT will be silly to run Banbidge in the Turners.... and he's a very bright man.

Trainer Joseph O'Brien was very pleased with the performance of runner-up Banbridge, and said: “It was run at a fierce tempo, he jumped a bit left in the back straight, but came home very strong in a hot race. If he jumped the last better he would have been a good second. He's in the Arkle and the Turners, but it is more likely he will be going up in trip.”

Ronnie bartlett said 'we always had the turners in mind and that was always a target for us, felt like it was an education today going that pace etc.'

Joseph when asked if his first reaction to the race was heading to the turners and not the arkle 'I think so, thats what it looked like to me now, lot of water to go under the bridge yet, speak to jock and ronnie and will be kept in both races and decision to be made late.'

                          • Jesus. Calm down fellas.

Imagine if I got that much love when I was right

FWIW Banbridge has got fucking no chance in the Turners.

                            No where near good enough.

He wouldn't beat Appreciate It over any code, over any distance.

Thank you. Ground conditions will be the deciding factor. Soft ground on day one and I suspect it'll be Arkle. Dry period leading up to Fez and a dry forecast for the week then it'll be Turners. Leave it late as possible I suspect.
