      • Just thinking out loud before the Arkle today, have we all been a bit hasty that DD goes Arkle or nowhere? You'd say based on last years performances that he absolutely has to, but if the fences have settled him, like was suggested on debut (although difficult to tell really given he was on his own all race) and he is the third choice today (as was suggested in Mullins article on SL), why couldn't he be the one to step up to the Turners? El Fabiolo has been an Arkle type from day 1 and they seem to think AI is the best of their lot so if he wins today there's no chance he steps up. DD could seem the obvious one of the 3 to move up if he has settled and doesn't win today?

        • The Gerri Colombe run today will be informative.
He's unbeaten, but looks far from classy to me.
If he beats the field today over that trip and on that ground then he'll have me convinced.

If he looks relaxed today and is well beaten, then the turners would be more likely than arkle, but not running at all would be favourite.
Completely depends on how the race shapes today, absolutely loads of stuff could happen.
It's a race that's impossible to call IMO.

Agree. Big test for him today. The distance and the ground will not be to his liking. He'll need class to overcome that.

              • Ground talk annoying me has been thin on the ground thankfully.

But the recent talk about Banbridge is shite.
It was much nearer soft in the martin pipe then it was good, the times show this.
But every man and his dogshit experts are trotting out that he improved for the good ground at cheltenham etc etc.

His form just looks a bit in and out. F all to do with the ground.

Does have the magician on board in gainford. Pillar to post, 60% of the time it works every time. Definitely 1 for the in running punters, will be off the bridal half a mile out

Don't entirely agree Q. He got stuck in the mud last time and his jumping was laboured. At Cheltenham he absolutely bounced off the decent ground and pinged every fence. Probably had as much to do with the course as well as he seems to love it around Cheltenham. Can see him running a decent race this weekend without winning and still being a serious force in March. Don't think things will sorted out as much as people think in the Irish Arkle.

                        • Lots of money for El Fabiolo. If something were to beat AI hopefully it will be him. Still want AI to win but have to think best worst case scenario!

                          • Banbridge isn't a 2 miler and that will be put to bed today. I'd be laying Appreciate It too. El Fab or Dysart look to be the most likely winners for me.

                              I love a punchy opinion.
