I hope its the NHC for GDM but I'm far from convinced that it will be.
I noted after Sir Gerhard's debut over fences that Willie said he could go up to the BANC as he hasn't yet got much in that division. Alright, he didn't say GDM is going to the NHC but surely he would have had to consider him a contender for the BANC if it was on his mind. There's also the small matter of the amount of money that has come for him in the NHC. Personally couldn't see Ramillies getting anyway near GDM in the NHC

      • Gerri Colombe entered in the Scilly Isles Novice Chase. It would be good if he could emulate L'homme Presse and his runs in this and the BA last year.

        • Interesting to see if he gets declared. Perhaps already a hint though that the target isn’t the 3 mile 6er.

Not sure it was ever in doubt that his target was the brown advisory, looked after last year with a view to his chasing career, looks the stables best staying chased this year so I’d be very confident he’ll end up in the grade 1 rather than the grade 2 at this stage

            • Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s what most of us want.

              • Thunder Rock is a big price for the Turners with Sky NRNB. 40-1

I get that he is probably more likely for the Banc and have backed at fancy prices on betfair.

But I'd have him as the more likely winner in the scilly isles and they may opt for the turners depending on the ground and opposition come festival time.
He just needs to jump better than he did the last day.

Probably got Monmiral and one of Hendersons to beat, really not sure about the Gerri Colombe entry other than Gordon is intent on running him somewhere this weekend and is looking for the worst ground, and I doubt he'll get that at Sandown looking at the forecast.

                • The McNeilli family have just tweeted

The Scilly Isles is our preferred race for Thunder Rock. The Towton is only a backup should anything happen

                  • Can't see both GDM and Ramillies both going NHC and Ramillies simply isn't good enough to win the BANC. Can see Ramillies being saved for the Irish National and that's from me with a 50/1 NHC ticket on him.

Awarded a rating of 144 in Ireland today so would have a nice enough racing weight at Fairyhouse if they did go that way...

Perfect then. GDM went that route last year so I'd say that's the plan.

                        • There’s still a 4 week gap to the Irish national which should be enough time for a horse to run at both festivals.

Last year was an extra week but I don’t think that would change plans that are likely set out some time ago.

                          • Stage Star given 8th highest rating for Novice Chasers this season by Timeform (154p). 2nd highest for Turners fancies. Appreciate it 153p. Mighty Potter highest on 162p.

                            • Banbridge form franked at Donny on Saturday and also getting a few mentions by Irish correspondents for DRF in view of drop back to 2 miles and better ground. I feel he could still be the fly in the Arkle ointment.

Maybe , hope you are right but a hard race at Cheltenham is bound to leave its mark and the prize money at Fairyhouse is way, way greater. Tough decision.
