Which I get... but it's still nonsense to think the Ballymore is there for horses who aren't top class or can't stay 3m ..... too dogmatic to downgrade it to be lower the the AB. It's better, at worst, the same level.
The main point is moving no where... however, I see a question ^ so I'm going to answer it

I have little to no enjoyment, or care for the Gold Cup. Shock horror - "how could youuuuu, it the blue ribbon event..." - I dont care. I have very little interest in it

    Champion Chase > Gold Cup
    Champion Hurdle > Stayers
    Supreme > AB
    Arkle > BANC

I'm a huge fan of the 2 mile races. My Favs: Sprinter Sacre, Honeysuckle, and the likes of Faugheen and The Fly when running over 2m
Personally, the 2 miler more skilled and more exciting than the boats that run over 3 miles - yeah I said it

So the assumption made... nope, incorrect.

Although this year does look a bit crap.

        • Mind you, the last Supreme winner to win the Champion Hurdle the following year was Bula back in 1970.........gulp!!

          • Supreme has always been considered the more prestigious race to win and I believe that is still the case.

5 years on a horse racing forum focused around Cheltenham and you get little to no enjoyment out of the Gold Cup.

You're just saying stuff to be different

I love the CC too, over the GC, my point was you're over rating the Albert Bartlett, because you picked out the route to the Gold Cup.

Anyway, whether we see it as a better or worse race isn't that important in finding the winner this year - so I'll say no more....

and ity's the novice chase thread opatcho haha!

                • Struggling with the BANC...

Anyone got any insights or strong thoughts. Gerri Colombe looks to be the quality one out of them, imagine he'll step up again over 3 miles. Question marks though whether he'll run here which puts me off, and whether they'll run him on anything better than soft

The Real Whacker, backed at bigger price and at the time, make a good case for him but... gut is saying he may lack the quality to win this.

To me, the race looks a mess

                  • No strong thoughts, I too am a bit flummoxed by the race. My have a nibble at 33-1 Kilcruit but will probably wait for NRNB.

                    • May as well wait until entries tomorrow surely? A few may get left out/entered and change the picture.

I'm behind on when all of the entries are.
I think I can wait until tomorrow lol

Has to be a worry that he’s never gone to the festival before I think, despite being entitled to both as a bumper horse and a hurdler. In fact he’s never been seen again after February full stop his last 2 seasons. 1 run in 7 on ground better then ‘soft’. He has looked good, probably as good as anything imo, and will be better for 3 miles, but despite the positives in his actions I think there are a few negatives in his omissions also that would make me reconsider at the price, or at least look for the safety net of NRNB.

And I know it will be brought up but I dont think it’s ever been Gordon’s MO to bring one alone slowly as they say. The opposite if anything for him.

It’s definitely not his MO to play the long game but he did it most notably with Don Cossack. His first trip to Cheltenham was for the the RSA. I suppose it just depends on the horse & how quickly they mature, I personally think it’s beneficial if you want a long career as a staying chaser!

I’m in that weird position of really fancying him and also hovering over cash out. Gordon has only ever mentioned the NHC for him this season. A small part of me (inflamed by how badly I’ve got this race so far) thinks he might not even be entered in the BANC tomorrow.

Pretty sure he was injured last year and thats why he didn't go to cheltenham. Was around 10/1 for the bartlett at the time I think.
