I hope so, I put all my eggs in one basket in light of Gerri Colombe & Gentlemansgame being the potential BANC horses. Henry has said JWM doesn't lack speed either, although I feel he was probably trying to convince himself more than others.

Indeed. The timing of the Cocooner news annoyed me as I was waiting for today's entries to decide!

Anyway - moving on. Ha D'or looked decent enough on debut. Could he be directed to the RSA? This was last years RSA stepping stone for Capodanno and GDM.

      • No cause of concern on the exchange for Classic Getaway from my untrained eye - anyone else view it differently?

I think they've got JWM all wrong and he's not that quick at all, which is hardly shocking for a horse by Mahler who tends to produce those that want trips. Not sure about his jumping either - looks mistake prone which would be exacerbated over shorter trips. Can see horses like Mighty Potter and JDB eating him alive in a race like the Turners whereas I think the BANC might be more within his comfort zone.

          • ComplyOrDie I was going to add to my case that JWM would be interesting for the NHC and he's been cut into 16's by PP/BF. I'd want to double check this but I think HDB has never had a runner in the race, or perhaps one, which would put me off completely (could be wrong but I think I am right)

There's only ?2 quid available to lay (below 999/1). Wouldn't be forming a strong opinion either way. But it's not exactly a positive...

Agreed. But neither was there for Cocooner yesterday either.

I think he's a BANC horse too, that said, we've still not seen him on better ground over the intermediate trip, so I'm willing to give his connections the benefit of doubt and hope it isn't a bog like the Ballymore last season!

I do think connections will split them up, or at least not have 3 in one race, and I believe JWM will be the one to make way.

                  • The BANC is so ridiculously open.

The Real Whacker and Thyme Hill are single figures.
GDM heads the market and is probably going to the NHC.
Gerri is an obvious contender, but Gordon mentioned NHC (which is a head scratcher)
Minella Cocooner is out and Classic Getaway is MIA
Ballybrifincottage keeps being entered then pulled
ADV will go down the mares chase route

Every which way I look at this race I'm thinking 'James Du Berlais @ 6/1 NRNB is one of the best NRNB bets around'

                    • Haven't seen an entry for Ballygriffincottage since he ran myself,I've read he may get an entry in one race or another (Never the trainers words though, usually some muppet journalist).
I've been quite vigilant on checking but not seen 1 myself, which has been concerning me.

I can't even begin to imagine JDB winning it, he's a huge return for me in the race

                        • I just cant see JdB being suited to a BANC against big chasing grinding types myself. Im without doubt biased by the fact he's one of my biggest winners of the week in the Turners, but I still cant bring myself to even cover him in the BANC.

I'll take a Turners win too mate

                            • It s very much my view that Appreciate It is 2023's Sir Gerhard and will be moved up in distance for the festival, WM has always suggested that AI future was over further than 2 miles. Only went in the Supreme after the injury to Ferny Hollow. The Arkle has a very strong favourite who jumps for fun. WM always looks for the Chelts wins and AI has much more chance in the Turners, He still has decent darts for Arkle if anything happens to Jonbon.

But proceeded to run him almost exclusively over 2m.
