Not sure him not having run over the trip yet, really matters at this point. they've got to qualify over 3 miles anyway' like loads of others.
I'm certainly not backing him for it either.
If this random fella is very close to the owners though, you'd expect him to run in one of the remaining graded qualifiers, like the ten up.

I can’t see that chemical energy, Minella crooner, Gerri and possibly frontal assault all run in nh chase and nothing in BANC
there will be proper ground at Cheltenham and I don’t see why he doesn’t run his best stayer in the BANC
I also recall him saying that he’d run Gerri on spring ground later in season. Who knows?

That did go through my head, looks like appreciate it could be comfortable at the distance on good spring ground.
The other play that could look more likely is the GDM brown / Ramillies NH double , on top of that city chief for Henderson is by same owners and I’m sure they are aiming this at the staying chases on spring ground. So could have GDM in the brown and then 2 in the NH, not sure Patrick would be as pleased with ramillies thoughLast edited by Inglis Drever; 9 January 2023, 08:09 PM.

He's literally been raced once over 3m too, excluding his p2p. I don't see why they'd suddenly go for a race over 3m6f for an unbeaten horse either.
I could understand Gordon playing him down as he's never had a winner of the BANC, and I imagine he feels he's got a great chance this season, without wanting to be too confident.
Edit: The bigger worry for me is Jack’s injury albeit Jordon will be familiar after the Limerick run. Jack is just mustard & it’s virtually impossible to fill his boots.

Doesn't like the ground, so would skip the 3M race, and go 6F further over 3 fences more.
Makes no sense
Never heard connections say that my horse may not like X-type of ground at that course, so if we get that, then I will run him there but over a longer trip."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".
