I see he's entered up alongside I Am Maximus of Willies too, in the race that Galopin Des Champs bolted up in last season at Leopardstown.
No run in 20 months and just 4 wins from 15 races doesn't appeal.

Not having the weight of your money on his back might be a godsend

Very true. Better get on quick before I change my mind. His price will plummet.

There is a 2m7f beginners chase at Punchestown on 31st December which could do for Minella Cocooner? Don't know where Classic Getaway might go next.

Further to this, Willie's two RSA darts last year both missed Christmas, instead taking in the Kildare Novices Chase in mid Jan before the Flogas at DRF. Perhaps he's thinking this route again?

                Yeah, the one Bob won.

                  • I’ve requested on Sky Bet Gaillard Du Mesnil to win the 3m G1 Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Christmas and the Brown Advisory. They’ve come back with 20/1.

Might be worth a cover for those on for the NH Chase. If he wins at Christmas, I think they’ll go the Brown Advisory route.

if he finds at least one too good, you’d expect the NH Chase will be the target, 20/1 seems fair I thought

                    • For anyone thinking about Turners bets with El Fabiolo, its worth noting:

Similar route to Blue Lords novice campaign, so could be onto Naas although timing may be too quick, then onto Irish Arkle and beyond.

Thanks Gibbs, that doesn't look the worst bet in the world as cover.

Looking at the price of GDM for the NH Chase, its been cut upon cut since the start of the season, even as far back as the Irish National, and he's probably a couple of points shorter he should be considering his target doesn't seem certain.

I know Joe Donnelly was a bookmaker back in the day but is he a gambler as an owner? I keep wondering if he's already got his money down for the NHC, and that's why he's a short priced, and actually there's no doubt on the longterm target. That's what I like to think anyway

The Naas race is 8th January this season so, given he only had an exercise gallop today, it may be a possibility. The Irish Arkle seems a certainty bar a mishap.

He's an Arkle horse all the way isn't he. Wouldn't fancy him at all outside of that race.

Thanks - been clipped to 16/1 which I've had to take. I will be kicking myself if I let that go unbacked given the chain of events that have unfolded so far. Runs a blinder on debut. Post debut Willie says we'll stick to Grade 1's. He's Willies only entry in the 3m Grade 1. If he wins you'd think BANC becomes the more likely option.

If three stripe life doesn't run it basically looks a penalty kick for GDM

Minella crooner is second fav, if TSL goes elsewhere its a glorified grade 3
