Yeah it's fair enough.... usually you'd assume he'll stay at 2m until beaten ... but just so many options this year in the yard that it's harder to predict than normal.

I backed him any race at 6s or 8s, can't be bothered to check, think 6s... with no cashout available now

I'd have him favourite for the Turners though, in terms of where he'll end up and his best chance of winning For me, he's a better horse than Mighty Potter. I've always been a bit OTT on Appreciate It though so was unlikely to feel any different after a solid novice chase debut.
I'll have to check but don't think I've got a penny on him. Being a 9 year old puts me off him tbh. 9 year olds have struggled to win the Champ Chase in recent years and I think a good 'young un' will beat him in an Arkle.

I'm probably in the minority with this view but I'd love them to go Brown Advisory.

I'm sure you remember my 50/1 for him in the 'RSA' - pre Supreme

I properly rate him still, I think Willie doing what he did with Faugheen going so close in the Turners, I dpn't worry about the age of horses as much from that yard, not when I think one is proper class anyway!

Top Bandit did make him at least come off the bridle but he did it all pretty easily so I'm confident he's a G1 level horse, whether Jonbon or El Fabiolo etc are superstars, they may well need to be.... he sets a high bar IMO... best of them over hurdles for me still anyway! I prefer Appreciate It's win to Jonbon's second...

Possibly, I'll be keeping an eye on what races he's entered for throughout January and February.

          • I'm on AI for the turners and was happy with that

Jumped well but not so well you'd think he was a guaranteed arkle horse

Personally I think he will be better over 2m4f

Whether that's what Willie thinks is another matter

Hopefully el fabiolo jumps like a buck on Wednesday

I do, and followed you in, so maybe that's why I still want to see it.

Not doubting his class, I'm more worried about a quicker horse doing him on the hill. Age catches up with everyone, unfortunately.

14 nine-year-olds, 11 ten-year-olds, 2 eleven-year-olds and even a 12 year-old have all won the QMCC, so it's not really the best race to use to knock 9 year olds FM!

                • Ok from AI today. Won't have the pace to beat Jonbon unless it comes up deep. Turner's or BANC if he's good enough. Still think there will be better in Mullins yard for both those races.

                    • ….AI a best price 5-1 Arkle, 12-1 Turners with 365.

Post race comments will be of interest.

                      • Very impressive from AI to put away a course specialist like that, and no doubt won’t have been tuned up today. Can’t see el fabiolo having the class personally and dysart doesn’t have the temperament so will almost certainly be willies main dart at the Arkle. Hardly going to be scared of jonbon when they were a much superior hurdler. Sir g for turners and possibly flame bearer. Clutching at straws imo anyone holding onto AI turners bets

                        • Willie on Appreciate It:

“he went out and did his own work in front. He was very idle in front and Jack Kennedy (on runner-up Top Bandit) kept him honest over the last couple. I couldn’t ask for any better.

“It was only two miles and we’ll see how he comes out of it. We’ll see if there is something between now and the Dublin Racing Festival.

“He’s an Arkle (Chase) type and we have other horses to come out over the next few days. I don’t know if they are as good as him but we’ll give them the opportunity.”

                            • Very annoyed at myself for only having bits on AI for the Turners and nothing for the Arkle.

Although I notice he is 11/4 in Skybet without Jonbon market, bigger than El Fabiolo so I think that looks better value than the 4/1 straight up with them.

                              • Fwiw I think Appreciate It would be more effective over two & a half miles. Top Bandit is only rated 135 over hurdles & they almost jumped the last upsides.

Colonel Mustard is rated 8 lbs higher than Too Bandit over hurdles so we’ll hopefully get a decent gauge on El Fabiolo/Appreciate It on Wednesday! Gordon is keen to do so anyway.
