I’m sorry but I’m finding all this talk of constitution hill being the the frankel of flat racing and he’ll wipe the floor with honeysuckle etc a bit silly now after one run in open company.
i like everyone else was blown away by his run in the fighting fifth and believe he could possibly be very very special but assuming that is the case without doubt on the evidence we have so far is jumping the gun imo. The form of the supreme is still questionable, were they a very good bunch of novices that he beat? Would sir gerhard/state man have thumped Jonbon too? The jury is still out at this point imo. He then goes to Newcastle and destroys Epatante in what was a breathtaking performance, but are we sure that was the same Epatante we’re used to? She looked to travel well but all it would take to raise doubts is something like pied piper coming over and beating her a few lengths and we’d all be thinking “hold on, she looks to have declined, was con hills performance as special as it looked?”
For the record I think he is a freak but would like more evidence before being as sure about it as everyone on here seems to be, and talk of him destroying a double champion hurdle winning undefeated mare, and piling barrow loads of cash onto him winning the champion hurdle at odds on because he is a certainty off the back of one run in open company, is very premature imo.
Wrong thread, folk are getting excited because he's breaking course records very early on his career at stellar Grade 1 tracks where hundreds of talented horses have run in said races.
Brief run down by Rowlands. https://www.attheraces.com/blogs/sec...-fifth-triumph

I don't disagree with this. He'll make his own history, Im not sure why flat horses are even brought up against NH horse tbh.

The jury will likely be out forever on the Jonbon question, as he'll likely never be seen over a hurdle again, and chase form can work out completely differently.

I would ignore any opposition and just check the clock.
His times absolutely back up the visuals. He broke the course record at Cheltenham and then ran the fastest Fighting Fifth this century by 5 seconds, it's no wonder Epatante couldn't get near him.

I’m aware it’s the wrong thread but there were several posts above mine regarding this topic so it seemed the best place to reply.
Im not disputing that he is a very good horse, he very clearly is, what I am finding very premature it is the full certainty by many at this point that he is one of the best we’ve ever seen and he will destroy honeysuckle etc off the back of one run in open company against one good horse, who we don’t know if she is still at her best or even if she was as fit as con hill on seasonal debut.
im familiar with Rowlands and I know his work is a useful guide and can be a good pointer, but I’ve seen him gush over various horses who posted freakish sectionals etc but didn’t live up to the hype, to know that it is not a fool proof system at all. By all means get excited over con hill, it’s what horse racing is about, I hope he is the freak I think he is and gives us some great races over the next few years, but speaking purely from a betting perspective people getting excited over getting him at evens for the champion hurdle and piling in thinking he is a certainty might be jumping the gun imo.
Looking at the drinmore this weekend, who do we think gets declared and is there anything anyone is looking out for with respect to Cheltenham?
There could be some interesting form lines within stables (e.g. mighty potter Vs Tsl Vs hollow games - doubt all 3 would run though) and between stables (e.g. if authorised art runs and runs well, would be a boost for ash tree meadow in a handicap). Would be really interesting if Willie ran gaillard there first time out

I'd expect Elliott to send both TSL and Mighty Potter. He did mention 2 miles for Hollow Games so maybe he won't be declared
I'd like Banbridge to be declared - surely they can't turn down the opportunity of a grade 1 with him.
Adamantly Chosen I'd expect for Mullins. Maybe GDM will go but it's a big ask first time out this season.
Authorised Art you would think should be declared.
Davy I'd expect to continue in TSL and Jack on Mighty Potter.
Probably not one for Cheltenham this year based on the Skelton modus operandi but that was a brilliant debut by Ballygriffin Cottage at Haydock.. 4th in the Bartlett last year.

Yes but he’s already 7 with good ptp experience as well and festival experience as well....my drogo was a bumper horse and a year younger when he started chasing and protektorat was a 5yo when he made his chase debut, it will be interesting to hear what the trainer says but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see this one at the festival ....by the same sire as Monkfish, Champagne Fever, Stattler and Ptko

Yeah, strikes me as one that could be given a quiet campaign this term and then targeted at something like a Hennessy next season.
Long bitcoin, long gold, long silver, long g/s opening day Cheltenham Festival

Skelton - “He will go to the Hampton Court at Warwick next and we’ll see how much rain is in the forecast for Cheltenham or something like that."
Referring to the 2023 Festival in March, he went on: “I want to go but if it wasn’t soft enough I wouldn’t and we may also look at something like the Towton Novices’ Chase (at Wetherby) and Aintree too. I think down the line he’s a Welsh National type of horse.”

If they can work his mark appropriately I'd be very interested for Welsh national next year
Looking forward to seeing how City Chief gets on here against Gelino Bello.
I've already backed him for the BANC @ 33/1 and also had a small bet on the SkyBet RAB @ 50/1.
Gelino Bello has experience over fences already when just getting up against much inferior opposition. I don't think he can afford to be lackluster today as I think City Chief looked a staying chaser all last season, and hopefully will improve for a fence.

Well, it was a big enough ask on chase debut against a race fit 148 rated hurdler, not helping himself by near fall at one fence, great recovery by Nico, but then had to make up ground, and also had some rail interference, though not really sure what happened there.
The mistakes aside, it wasn't dreadful, but he'll have to come on a fair bit for that run. Looked to be blowing hard at the end tbf.
