Jonbon has received an RPR of 159 for yesterdays win.

For some context, Shishkin & Altior both achieved 160 for their chase debuts, and Sprinter Sacre 154, that puts Jonbon right there.

Edwardstone achieved 153 last season for his first completed run.

Douvan achieved 153 and Un De Sceaux 151 on their first chase starts.

Jonbon is right in the mix, have no doubts about that.

Rather than go around in circles about why or why not he is the right price, out of interest, what price do you think he should be? I'm interested, in comparison to say, El Fabiolo, because I believe he should be at least 4-5 times Jonbons current price.

For me this is a poorly disguised conversation about Jonbon himself and not a genuine debate about value or bookmaker price integrity and I suspect a very similar conversation would have taken place anyhow even if Jonbon was currently 4s

What would a genuine debate about value look like focusing solely on price without weighing up form/ability/substance?

I am obviously being rhetorical because one is meaningless without the other when in pursuit of value.

Gaillard du Mesnil and Whatdeawant entered over 2m6f at Clonmel next week. Whatdeawant doesn't get talked about enough, I hoped he would go for the Bartlett last year but unfortunately the owner wanted his horse in the race he sponsors. What's stopping an NHC tilt? Hopefully Willie is weighing up whether he can be good enough.

I don't think his price is a million miles out. 11/4 and I'd be a backer, I think.

It's very likely that he's going to turn up undefeated and be the best of the British so I'd imagine he'll be second favourite at the worst. It's for everything else to come out and prove they can match his level.

If Hendo is enthused about a 2 mile novice chaser, then history has told us he knows he's got a good one.

RSA namechecked for Whatdeawant. I think Q made the point a few weeks back that where Willie namechecks a races, the horse rarely diverts (unless injured). I had hoped he was a NHC horse too and bet accordingly but need to change tack now.
