  • Noticed Bet365 have greyed out Flame Bearer now. Ground was the reason given for him not running, right? Don't think anything else was said.

Should come on plenty for the run

Don't know if it's just me but I feel Gordon has changed tactics slightly this year, don't think he's getting his horses quite as fit for their first run as previous years

Guess we will find out next time
I’d agree with this. Been very underwhelmed with most of Gordon’s runners this far. On what we’ve seen I’d struggle to fancy any of them as Cheltenham winners, next runs will be informative.

They've still greyed Quais De Paris for my bets for the Supreme because Willie mentioned Bumper

        They're just useless now.

Yep, unsuitable ground. A bit more suitable than Cheltenham though. Unbelievable for mid November.

Might Potter's debut was underwhelming. Both TSL and Hollow Games jumped much better and looked more polished. Willie will surely have a few decent ones, Banbridge looks decent and De Bromhead has just said in his stable tour that he's not convinced Journey With Me is a 3 miler.

I thought I'd be ok sticking to just SirG and Mighty Potter for the Turners but now one might not be chasing and the other might not be the best in his yard! I don't really want to build a book for this race but it's starting to look quite open imo.

            • Mighty potter was definitely underwhelming, and I have never been a fan of three stripe life - I’m not rushing to back any of them

Sir G remains my main bet for the turners but it’s concerning Mullins is still considering sticking to hurdles which to me is a sign that he’s looked at Sir G school over a fence… and he wasnt great ??

              • TSL and HG both jumped very well. Both look as though they'd be suited to the Turner's. The ground during the week will have a big say. Of the two I'd say TSL would be the more likely to step up to the BANC but I really can't call it at all. I'm not keen on MP at all for the Fez.

                • ….interesting HdB is not convinced Journey with Me is a 3 miler;

”He looks great & his work has been very good of late. We’re going novice chasing with him & he has more pace than I initially thought so I’d say we will start him off in a Beginners Chase over two and a half miles somewhere”.

As low as 10-1 BANC, yet 33-1 Turners (with cash-out).

Having thought all last season he was a Bartlett horse and still in my mind think he’s a 3 miler, I won’t even be parting with free bet money on him over 2m3 even at 33/1.

                    • I am 90% convinced that Gavin Lynch will tip up Banbridge to win the Turners this week and he'll go single figures across the board so for those with Arkle bets that perhaps want double figure insurance cover, I'd say nows the time to back him. I actually think double figures for the Turners is very fair about Banbridge. Mighty Potter is nearly half the price with Skybet which to me is really odd. A festival winner who's just pissed in over fences at Cheltenham nearly double the price of a horse who flopped at Cheltenham last year and didn't look a natural over fences on debut half the price. I know target remains the ? with Banbridge and that the chances of MP going to the Arkle are virtually nil, but even still. Banbridge will be 8/1 best priced come Wednesday after all the tipsters get done backing him.

                      • Seems to be a lot more horses for the intermediate trip than the BANC this year, and there's not a great deal to choose between most of them and none are particularly overly priced imo. Not too keen to rush into anymore bets on the Turner's. The BANC on the other hand I think is potentially worth getting stuck into... Just don't know where to start anymore

Start with James Du Berlais. Case in my diary

JDB and Gerri Colombe look to be the value bets for me

I love GC but based on what they achieved over hurdles JDB is in a different parish to GC IMO.

                              • My thoughts on Gerri Colombe.

Mentioned more than once by connections that softer ground is required for him. Is this not a concern for the festival?

What trip? I think we can pretty much all agree 2m is out of the question, but every trip from 2m4f and up is open as an option. Makes him a difficult one to pin down, although Robcour seem to suggest they don't want him in the NH Chase, so that helps, I guess.

His form is still questionable. The form from his p2p win is not inspiring. He's beat nothing of note over hurdles either, again though, he can only beat what's in front of him, but I'd still be cautious about over playing his ability, because he's not beat a huge deal, just yet.

His sire (Saddler Maker) has only had two festival winners, both mares, in mares races. Apples Jade & Eglantine Du Seuil. He has hit the bar with the geldings a couple of times though. Bristol De Mai (2nd in the JLT) & Discorama (2nd in the NH Chase). Not a stat to pin a decision on, but one I like to keep in mind.

I find Gerri Colombe a puzzling horse to work out. He's due to run tomorrow. There's currently a fair bit of sun today and tomorrow during the day (although a bit of rain during the night), so if it were to dry out a bit I imagine he won't be seen.
