But I think his head carriage was a direct correlation to not getting a lead to follow & being a bit green due to being in half asleep in second gear for most of the race, he was like a tourist in the big smoke having a nose everywhere, he would have gotten a better blow out on the gallops today imo but as a result he probably got a good lesson in how to get from A to B when not meeting his obstacles correctly in full focus.

Also with regards to his Supreme run, he was bang in contention until clattering 4 out, pretty much bringing him to a standstill that led Davy to pulling him up!
Can only agree with all of this.
That mistake at Cheltenham did something as he stopped quickly. Either winded or felt it on his shins.
Funnily enough he got in too close to thatb flight also.
That's probably the biggest concern for me as although it's the safer option (to take an extra step), you don't want to be doing it more than once in a race. And probably not at all in a grade 1.
It slows you down too much as you land flat footed more often than not.
They're not daft though and they will work on getting him to be braver.
Just hope he's not too nesh.

He didn’t give his hurdles enough respect for me which can be the case with similarly sized types. He bunny hopped one today like a hurdle which was my biggest concern actually!

      • The Turners & BANC are the most appealing markets to me of the whole festival at the moment & I still can’t believe Gerri Colombe is still 33/1, he’s bred incredibly well for staying chases & I think GE has wrapped him in cotton wool to a certain extent waiting for this season.

        • Thompson also revealed dual Cheltenham Festival winner Sir Gerhard is more likely to embark on a novice chasing campaign than remain over hurdles, although a final decision has yet to be made.

He said: “The last time I spoke to Willie he was edging more towards chasing – that was probably about a week ago, so we’ll see. At the end of the day Willie is the boss and we’ll listen to him very closely and see what he recommends. I’m sure we’ll find out very soon.

Yet about 2 weeks ago, he was leaning towards the Champ Hdle route... Never change Willie!

Apparently the bookies are considering payout already.

Yep. Think he'll be the Paddy Power special this season. Just needs to turn up to win. Cheltenham festival specialist. Willie tells me he's jumping like Sprinter Sacre.

Watching his p2p, I'd have absolutely no worries with regards to his jumping.

That's fair enough but even so he's not nailed on to win

                                PMSLLLLLL

TBH, I was a little down when they said he may go back to hurdles and saw my B365 bets greyed out... but now I'm overjoyed (a little too much lol) with that latest quote - despite us not seeing him jump a fence yet. Need to claim myself down lol
