….Sky have cut to 7-1. Novicey at his fences, looked around lots, you’d have to think there’ll be plenty of improvement for experience. Bit of a big baby, yet got the job done. The post race comments will be interesting.

Ruby talking about racing is just unbeatable, could listen to him for hours. Shame he's not more to the forefront of ITVracing on a weekend instead of some clowns.

      • Would be interesting if his jumping held up in a Drinmore. I'd be against him, still immature.

        • Just can't forgive Mighty Potters festival performance this year. Could be one that just hates the place.

I think this is harsh and no indication from hobbs hell return to hurdles. indicated 3m novice chase at cheltenham december meeting as psso8ble next target. the 22s with hills boost for browns are decent value in my opinion as hes likely to go there and will probably win next race at 3m given his class.

I dont think the 3m division has superstars this year so his engine might be enough to be competitive

Game of opinions and that’s mine harsh or not. A small novice chaser turning 9yrs old who’s jumping was ok nothing more isn’t for me. He’s very little scope for improvement and surely there will be loads better than him as the season progresses.

Almost all of the contenders are yet to hit a track, so far far too early to be saying there are no superstars

2 or 3 good novice hurdles are bound to take huge steps forward over fences, especially over staying trips where the young horses improve quickly when they start filling their frames

Thyme hills jumping was not very good

“…we didn’t want to make the running, Jack said he lost concentration at one or two but in all he was very good. I’d be thinking of the Drinmore at Fairyhouse. We’ll get him home & see how he is.”

                    • Just back from Down Royal, bare in mind this was pre race. Loads of other factors to take in other than it was before the race which opinions could change from connections, I asked Joey Logan (Racing Manager) "well Joey what we think in March for him, Turners" to which he replied him and Jack Kennedy thinking more Arkle, Gordon thinks he should step up. He kept emphasising his speed and him along with Jack agree. Now I'm only home so don't know what the experts have asked in Interviews or what has been said after race but just sharing what might be useful for some, or a waste of nonsense for most. Also another factor maybe Joey doesn't give much away, never mind to a random punter! But he also did add nothing was confirmed they honestly don't know yet. They also seemed very nervous before the race, imo I thought that anyway, body language, lack of engaging etc But they seemed very happy to get the job done.

                      • I cant believe MP has been cut for the Arkle after that. It was ok, but thats as far as I'd go. Even coming on heaps he wouldn't be an Arkle horse for me. 2m5f will surely be his bag but I'm underwhelmed if I'm being totally honest.

                          This..

The Drinmore isn't a great indicator for Cheltenham.

                          • The Marsh is the same trip as todays Beginners Chase that Mighty Potter won.

                            Both are around 2M 3.5F.

Its a closer distance fit to the Arkle than it is to the BANC.

Im the first to admit to being underwhelmed by Mighty Potter today.

But I think his head carriage was a direct correlation to not getting a lead to follow & being a bit green due to being in half asleep in second gear for most of the race, he was like a tourist in the big smoke having a nose everywhere, he would have gotten a better blow out on the gallops today imo but as a result he probably got a good lesson in how to get from A to B when not meeting his obstacles correctly in full focus.

Also with regards to his Supreme run, he was bang in contention until clattering 4 out, pretty much bringing him to a standstill that led Davy to pulling him up!

                              • I’m still firmly in belief that the Turners is a very soft market & should Sir Gerhard stay over hurdles like has been mooted that Mighty Potter & Appreciate It are the most logical winners of the race currently.
