I get the gound concern thing, but ut's been on the soft side often enough at Cheltenham in recent years.
He could realistically end up running in about 8 races I reckon.
    And be competitive enough.
I have no concerns about ground for him, but I do wonder where he'll end up. They've decided not to go to Cheltenham with him twice now, I don't know if there were reasons behind this?

The fact he's a JP horse immediately screams handicap to me, so get the any race logic.

I'm not sure how good the 2m novice chase division was last season either. I still have my doubts about the form lines.

Just in case he wins easy at the weekend, as if not we'll be taking 12-1 or lower.
He'd Shit Gelino Bello out of his arse.
Him being so ground dependant worries me as an antepost bet

he also didn't jump very well in his two starts over fences last season

I'll try asking too. Fingers crossed!

        • I think he's one of the least exposed horses in training that has shown obvious potential.
The ground thing looks like a physical thing rather than form thing to me, but is still a worry and I can understand people not bothering.

From my eye, he looks like he'll be much better over further.
The jumping thing is excusable but could be a problem for sure.
But I'd give him the benefit after trying to chase Ferny Hollow and Saint Sam over 2 miles, given the positive rides they got on the day.
Most judges had him down for a handicap at the festival - but over further perhaps.
He's the type that if they did enter him at Cheltenham he'd be single figures most likely, and I reckon they might quote 25's or 33's for the RSA and around 20-1 any race.
          Both would be fair.

yeah, not for me at that price.
might have it in slip during weekend race though.

              Thanks for asking sir

              • That might be the end of the Goshen chase journey.

Giving him one more go apparently.
                    Samarrive outjumped him throughout.

There are enough right handed graded hurdle races for him to be competitive in.

                    • Have no idea why they ran him in a handicap giving lumps of weight away

Surely a Mickey mouse novice chase off levels wouldve been the way to go

He made a nice shape at his fences but had sweated up badly pre race and seemed to sulk once he was headed

                      • I said earlier in the week it'd be odd to declare him in a handicap first up, and against more experienced chasers. But did end up every other horse in the race slightly out of the weights I think and a small field. He won't be achieving much over fences I don't think...

Unless they'll just trying to work his handicap mark down

                        • Believe Mouse Morris has confirmed Gentlemansgame is going novice chasing - not sure if/where quotes are from.

                          • I see Bear Ghylls is entered for a listed Intermediate Chase today against some decent horses, bookies have him as favourite, receiving a stone from Millers Bank.

Starting out over 2m4f at Carlisle, no doubt be a big price for the Turners, but I think he'll probably end up being a Handicapper and one for the tracker.

                            • Thanks to whoever posted the Mullins comments re James de Berlais, a horse I've been keen to get with.
Always had it in my mind he'd be a 20f horse but with Willie quoting him as a stayer I've had to have a small interest in the BANC...
