ATM's close 4th to Hewick looks very good indeed now based on that winners subsequent performances. He'll be much better over further as well. Don't give up in him.
Totally agree here. The only move I made following the race was to cash out for stake back on PP and take 33s with 365. I think we are better to keep hold of the NHC slips for now and reassess after the next run. Certainly seen enough today to think he'll be fine stepping up.

    • looked like everything was happening way to fast today , needing a step up in trip , let it all happen naturally at a slower pace

      • Authorized Art is so progressive. Jumps for fun too. Looks annoyingly that he's now in the mix for Festival honours . Makes life even more difficult. Looks a Marsh type to me. That may help push Sir G to the Arkle? Even more confused now

I'd be very surprised if he is good enough to contest a proper grade 1 when all the winter horses come out personally Lobos.

I'm not as excited as you seem to be about Authorized Art or Ash Tree Meadow. 130 rated hurdlers, the 3rd horse was rated 127 over hurdles, and the 4th 116.

Ash Tree Meadow has been compared to Galvin, but the only similarity they have is the fact they contested that same G3 race. Galvin was a 2nd season chaser, he'd also raced at the festival the previous 2 seasons (placing once). He was also a 144 rated hurdler.

There is also some breeding doubts about Ash Tree Meadow, IMO, too.

            • Don't think anyone has compared him to Galvin COD. It's just the route he's taking. Authorized Art won't be too far off 150 horse after yesterday so he is certainly going the right way. I was hugely impressed with his round if jumping too.

              • David Casey re Authorized Art.....

“He jumped great. It's a good quick track around here and when you jump like he does it's a help.
“He put up a good performance. I know, obviously, the second made a bad mistake at the last but he looked like he had his measure anyway.

“He enjoys jumping, he's progressing well and getting better. He has stepped up from his hurdling.

“I think he'll handle softer ground but obviously he does handle that, maybe he wouldn't handle very heavy ground.

“We'll try and make hay and keep going. There is a chance he could end up in the Drinmore but that's two months away so there might be something in between.

“If he keeps progressing we might give him a chance at it and see how far he can climb the ladder.”

I wouldn't be surprised if Mcfabulous races on Saturday at Chepstow over the 2 1/2 (he is entered) and avoids Thyme Hill on the Friday over 3m

                    • Henry Daly says Hillcrest is still "some way off" his seasonal reappearance. Dry ground a major issue for the yard...

Sounds like they've not been able to school a lot of the novices on grass yet.

                      • Frontal Assault just has to win today doesn't he? Even taking into account Mullins horse is fitter, FA has the weights heavily in his favour. Would be disappointing if he were to get beat and would knock the Galliard du Mesnil form somewhat as well. A clear round should see him home.

                        • I’ve been watching the market closely this morning, and FA has drifted out to 2/1 from 13/8, and Jon Snow has been backed into a shade of odds on. Might be that Jon Snow is race fit whereas FA is coming back for first run of the season?

Edit -Good point about Jon Snow’s hurdle rating…

Absolutely not. Jon Snow rated 16lbs higher over hurdles than Frontal Assault, so even at the weights it's not going to be easy at all. All the money has come for Jon Snow, he has race fitness, and FA has always looked as though needing a proper trip. Yes, this is over 2m6f, but even so, I'd be expecting Jon Snow to win today.

It's a mile too short for Frontal Assault, he always plods on but not the fastest.
