Potter will have to meet that one just right for sure.

Bensalem was a bad day, but the year after made up for it big time.

I was thinking of Latalomne who dived at the second last in the Queen mother 2 years in a row. That didn't end as well.

They've moved it about a lot though and not been as big a graveyard as in the past.
Cue card came a cropper at it two years in a row didn't he

Iv definitely never taken to mighty potter, though I'm starting to come round to him despite him being a little rough around the edges

If I was on at 14/1+ I'd be happy, so anyone should

Would i swap my TSL ticket for a mighty potter one 100%

But as a non backer I'm now viewing him through the prism of the short enough turner's favourite and because of that il be looking for every fault i can find in a horse before deciding whether to part with some pennies even just as a saver.

As of know I'm happy to hold off, Willie has a few to come out that could be huge rivals in the turner's at bigger prices. He will likely have to beat a couple of them if he goes to the DRF.

Mighty potter might be one for the ryanair next year for me more than this years turner's. He strikes as a horse who is still raw and learning that will get beat by something more streetwise this year but then kick on plenty next season.

Im mainly trying to play devils advocate and see what others views are in response
Yep he's short enough for the time being and there isn't really much upside to backing him now at 4's. We might not see him again until Feb and as you mention one of Willies might come out and win well in the meantime, you'd imagine the bookies would be quick to shorten whatever that is into joint fav and even push MP out a point or two.

      • I remember Twist Magic falling at the 2nd last twice, once in the Arkle and once in the Champion chase. As Q mentioned though they moved it to the bottom of the hill and since then there hasn't been as many fallers. with the turners being run on the new course I don't think that will be as much of an issue, although still a tough test for novices all the same.

I find that it's the fence at the top of the hill, just after they turn that has me hiding behind the sofa. Must be the 4th last(?) and only exists on the new course. Horses just seem to meet it all wrong

          • If we are thinking about the horses we have backed falling at fences 3 months from the start of the festival then there is no hope for any of us.

Yep, that's my bogey fence also. The one where Douvan came a cropper when cruising in the Champion Chase

Yeha I geniunely spend the 11 months between festivals thinking every horse I back is gonna piss in and whether I should buy Dom P or Cristal? Maybe Krug

Me too. I'm a believer that if you have negative thoughts about something then it's more likely to happen.

                      • Noticed that PP shortened Jonbon from 7/4 into 5/4 this morning whilst pushing out all other principals in the race. Potential that one in behind is out or just taking a defensive view about him?

No idea re: setbacks but Willie seems positive in his comments today.

"Henn See (Paul) goes over fences in the 2 mile beginners chase. He hasn’t run since winning a maiden hurdle at Limerick last Christmas but he is in great form at home. His schooling has been very good and he will handle the ground. We are expecting him to be seriously involved here."

I hope I'm wrong but I'd be surprised if there's any racing in Ireland over this weekend unfortunately with the frost. Navan already cancelled tomorrow.

                              • Yes, doubt Cork and Punchestown can survive this cold snap. Always hopeful they'll find re-scheduled dates for at least 1 of the meetings.
