He comes off the bridle too soon for a race like the NHC for me.

do you mean something other than gailard du mesnil? twice a grade 1 winning hurdler?

        • Apologies Aaron...I was only taking into account last seasons novice hurdlers that have been name checked for this race. I'll do better next time.

          • Surely State Man win today was enough for Willie to send Sir G chasing now
Have a feeling they've seen him jump, and it wasnt a pretty sight lol

I wouldn't want to be delaying a novice chasing campaign another year. he'll be 8 next year which is already old enough really. Unless he is useless over a fence.

You'd think so. SM and SG are both in the bracket of 'stable stars' so it makes sense splitting them. I think its a big negative they seem undecided on Sir Gerhard. He had a tendency to throw in poor jumps over hurdles and if he doesn't jump fences well but isn't a champion hurdler, then it could be a tough year for him.

                    just saw this

Its a negative atm. SG was late back last season, but going into his third season… and yet to heard much positivity from Mullins :-S

Yeh its a read between the lines job but its not good if you like SG.

                      • I agree with previous posts, the lack of commitment from WPM on Sir G is telling. Makes me even keener on Minella Cocooner. Can see him running in the Allaho mould - going from the front and putting others under a lot of pressure. Willie referenced his sound jumping in the stable tour along with the 2 1/2 mile route. i think the precedent they set last year with GDC staying over the mid-trip may well be repeated. I'll be looking for an entry in the 2m5f beginner's chase at Leopardstown over Xmas.

With Gordon's novices not lighting any fires on their chasing debuts I think he is currently the best value ante-post bet at 18/1.

                        • I've been trying to split Willie's novice chasers and come up with this -

Arkle - Dysart Dynamo and El Fabiolo

NH Chase - Gaillard Du Mesnill

Brown Advisory - Kilcruit and Appreciate It

Turners - Minella Cocooner and Sir Gerhard

All guess work obviously and all depending on fitness and form middle of March
Probs missed a couple as well, feel free to dismiss

….i wouldn’t discount Flame Bearer being in the mix, although I’m not sure where. 2nd behind State Man on his last appearance over hurdles & ahead of TSL & Kilcruit.

Kilcruit and Appreciate it in the same ownership so doubtful they will run in the same race, I wouldn’t be surprised if appreciate it turned out to be the BANC horse though, kilcruit possibly looks more a turners type than BANC type.
