….also interested in Mullins’ comments re Bronn and Tenzing.
Bronn made a hash of the first, left his hind legs in the third and ran well to finish 2nd. Mullins will have many to choose from but I have always got the impression he likes Bronn & surprised that 40-1 BANC remains. Tenzing finished like a train, has won a 3m hurdle, be interesting if he steps up next time to put himself in NHC picture.
I'd have to agree, Bronn for saying he made some pretty bad errors ran a promising race. It's hard to say how forward Mullins horses are at the moment, but based on the last few seasons maybe Gordons are a bit ahead in terms of fitness. You'd want to see Bronns jumping improve though, Gerri looked much more the natural.
Interested to hear peoples thoughts on how Gordon splits his novices this season, he's got a few decent stayers with TSL, Crooner, Hollow Games and Gerri. Terribly sad what happened with Ginto, he could have quite easily been the star of them all.

Good to see you drop the NHC bomb for Tenzing Eggs as that's the idea I had for him and even Bronn potentially.
I was invested in Gerri Colombe in the novice hurdles last season so went in again this season so naturally I'm delighted with his opening chase run, especially given some of Gordon's have flattered to deceive me so far.

At this moment in time I think Mighty Potter will be the Arkle horse, TSL for the Turners and Gerri Colombe in the Brown Advisory, if only it was all that simple but a decent performance from Hollow Games makes his next entry of interest.

Haha If only it was. Interesting take on Mighty Potter. My view on Potter is that they'll send Fil Dor chasing and aim him at the Arkle, with the Caldwell team probably wanting to split them both I could see MP in the turners. Although they were happy to let Fil Dor and Pied Piper run against each other so maybe not. TSL you are probably right although if Potter beats TSL maybe he's stepped up to 3 miles. Bloody hard enough figuring Gordons out not even started with Willies yet lol.

All of Gordon’s are two and a half to three milers. I can’t have any of them for the Arkle as they’d get taken off their feet. I hope he just aims them all where they should, rather than trying to split them. I get some owners may want to but I never get that myself. I’d rather have two bullets at the right race than one in the wrong race.
Another bookie over reaction - glad I took 27's yesterday mind
Post race quotes from GE will be interesting.
Gordon’s post race comments now available on Irishracing.com
Key sound bites as follows
always thought he was a nice horse
he had a good blow will come on for it
possibly heading for Limerick at Christmas (does that mean the faugheen?)
doesn’t have to have it soft but seems effective on it
The reason I mention Mighty Potter as an Arkle candidate is the Fil Dor disappointment (he could bounce back but now has questions to answer) and the fact MP has been entered over 2 at Punchestown.
Edit: Wrong meet.

From a team planning perspective, maybe, but I wouldn't have Mighty Potter anywhere near an Arkle. Everything he did over hurdles screamed go up in trip IMO and the way he jumped on debut was ordinary. I'm sure he'll improve and will need to, but I think Gordon citing intermediate trips at the start of the season is bang on, and I'd actually rather see him try 3m than 2m.

I said as much to BarrowNH01 which is what baffles me more about dropping down in trip. I am trying not to get too carried away with dismissing/hyping up horses but I didn't feel Potters first run was all that, whilst not terrible I don't think he'd be winning any of the novice chases let alone what I think will be too hot an Arkle for him.

I don't think we'll know how good they truly are until we get into December and we start hitting the grade 1's. Personally, I don't get too invested with what I see first time out. Most are undercooked and really only out to get some experience fencing in public. I imagine the ones that fenced poorly will go through more intense schooling. We'll then get a better idea if they're natural chasing sorts when running at championship pace over Christmas. What we do know though is how good they were novice hurdling and the fact MP won 2 grade 1's over a trip too short has me thinking he'll have some sort of say if he takes to fences.

A thought occurred and I went back and checked…after today’s run Willie will have a line on how good Gerri is through Bronn following the Punchestown race. Bronn was a good 20L behind Minella Cocooner. Clearly they could be different over fences and would be interested if anyone has any views on breeding. Gerri certainly looks bred to be a chaser.

Yeah I can see why it comes across like I meant that, as I said earlier I am trying not to overreact on one run. It's served me well in the past. I do expect all of the mentioned Gordo horses will be festival bound if fit, all of them have shown enough so far I just think Potter will be found out against the top notch 2 mile chasers as he was when he was hurdling in the Supreme. If he looks to have come on for the last run this weekend then I can reassess but I'd probably have his performance as the least noticeable behind the other 4 horses (5 if you include Chemical Energy).
Big one tomorrow for me, Jonbon has been carrying my AP single for a while but have been vocal about Monmiral and his chances
A little worried its a 3 horse field - well... that could change in the morning if there is a NR - but its about time to see what all the fuse about
Thought Jonbon eyed up his fences well, but maybe at the cost of raw speed over them. Interested to see whether a) he can jump well, and b) jump quickly
