  • Lots of blue for Jonbon today - wondered why. Cursory glance on Twitter and saw Mick Fitzgerald had posted a few videos. Was it him schooling fences? No. Was it him working with something half decent? No. Was it two videos that totalled 6 seconds confirming nothing more than he's still alive and has 4 legs. Yes. Why not cut him, seems very fair.

    • Banbridge has entries for the 2m and 2m4f at Cheltenham this weekend coming. Depending how he gets on, may look to cash out for anyone who backed him for the NHC.

In my opinion, he would have to be beaten quite badly for them to consider upping him in trip. Considering he would still have to qualify for the race.

Yeh it's a concern thats for sure. The only way I'll be happy is if he goes Cheltenham over 2m4f and then steps up to qualify over xmas somewhere easy. I've covered BANC as there wont be many better jumping displays on debut that him.

Shrewd case made Charlie, fact he’s still alive and doesn’t have any additional limbs - he has to be a cert for staying division this year. Am on board with ya!

….in his stable tour O’Brien said they were aiming him at yesterdays Cork Novice Chase (2m 4f) & then the Drinmore (2m 4f). Not sure what happened to that plan.

Yeh its certainly a deviation I'm happy with. If he goes to Cheltenham over 2m4f its good course experience, but I wouldn't want him doing anything too flashy.

It is looking increasingly unlikely that Banbridge will be aimed at the NHC
Middle distances looks like where they are aiming
If it doesn’t work out and he is to be upped in trip it would be more likely the BANC
Think we were all hanging onto the Ronnie Bartlett angle too much

                • Yes, that entry has persuaded me to cash out for NHC. 10/1 with Hills TWAR (without boost), win today and any race from Sky for the weekend, or doubling Sky’s 8/1 TWAR probably the way to go if you want to cover.

General 20/1 for both Turners and RSA.

Entries over 2m and 2m4f obviously make the NHC far less likely, but the RB angle is one piece of the puzzle. There is loads to suggest further would suit (breeding, trainer comments, visually), its just not being reflected in his entries. I suspect he could better than a NHC horse and end up being one for Grade 1's but time will tell.

                    • Tommys oscar entered at cheltenham for saturdays arkle trial, a surprising move by the hamiltons. If he runs and he wins, surely he has to stay chasing and aim for the arkle. positive move and if declared i'll be backing again for march.

If the novice hcap was still about, they'd bury him in two chases now and rock up off 143 very happily for a Maritin Pipe winner who jumped well on debut.

                            • Banbridge a sea of blue for the BANC. I think Gavin Lynch must have put him up.
