Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Burrows saint won his Irish national on his 4th chase start just two months after his chase debut. Ramillies if taking in the NHC would also be on his 4th start but in a significantly less taxing almost 4 months and he is a notoriously stuffy horse and hard horse to get fit so I suspect you can relax

    • Appreciate it heavily backed for Irish Arkle and for Turners. Win this weekend and surely he'll be going for the English equivalent. All very confusing.

Put yourself in Willies shoes. He said GDM was a Grade 1 animal and they'd take the Grade 1 route. He also questioned what else he had for the NHC. Fast forward a month. Lots of major major players have come out the BANC and the market is headed by Thyme Hill and The Real Whacker. If you're Willie, making statements about having a G1 animal on your hands, are you looking at that market and last years form behind Ahoy Senior and LHP and thinking NHC? He might be, but enter big Ram. Jumps beautifully, stays all day, wouldn't have the pace for BANC, has 2 festival runs on his CV and if you lift GDM out the NHC what does he have to worry about? Chemical Energy, beat him. GDM, wouldn't go. Gerri Columbe, almost certainly BANC bound based on latest entries. He'd be rightful fav and the most likely winner. So basically, if GDM doesn't go down the NHC route Willie has to sell the Donnelly's the case that each horse can win each race, and that case is getting easier to make and stronger with every passing week. It could go the other way after the DRF, but as it stands I can see them being separated. Maybe its hope. Who knows.

        • Ramillies has only had 2 chase starts.
And has plenty of options for the Irish National.

          • GDM could end up similar to Sir Gerhard last year where Willie tops his hat to us early in the season and a lot of us are guilty of overthinking and second guessing.

The only difference this year is the number of injuries he's had with his 3 milers.

If any of TNG/Classic Getaway/Minella Cocooner (either himself or via him running in Turners and JDB/another moving up) weren't injured and had taken to fences I wouldn't be entertaining the discussion, but as things stand, GDM is clearly (IMO) his best chance of winning the RSA and Ramillies is an obvious sub for the same owners in the race he named, who has just beaten the (unfit) second favourite.

Would probably rule out going for NHC if he runs this weekend, still needs to place over 3 miles and would have very little time to do so with 5 or 6 weeks to go..

                    • If he’s declared it would also rule out the claims that he will only run on “bottomless” ground in the spring, can’t see it any softer than good/soft on Saturday.

                          • Appreciate It has an entry in Irish Arkle only at DRF, no entry in the 2M5F. El Fabiolo still entered in both. Dysart Dynamo entered in arkle only also.

Nobody can be surprised. Willie lives to place AI over 2 miles.
