  • Hahahaaaaaa aaaah that'll be why I remember him. I genuinely forgot.

Not like Saint Calvados or Rawnaq. I think about them most days.

    • By and large, I'd say that Willie tends to run stayers that have a turn of foot in the Turners. Galopin, Kemboy, even Black Hercules. The BANC is a hard race that can leave a mark.

      • Paddy Power have pushed out Appreciate it to 13/2 in Arkle and shortened Dysart Dynamo to 7/2. Significant??

Hard to know sometimes... maybe overthinking it, but I do reckon they throw in the odd bluff, make us think there's more to it and push one out and one in...

They did with Redemption Day. Cut him for the Supreme the day before the news. And Willie confirmed he knew of his injury some 6 months earlier after the Punchestown Bumper.

I agree (hence the 'keep an eye on'), but he has more potential G1 novice chasers to fit in this season and El Fabiolo's slow jumping could push him to the Turners. Thus the thinking would be him being one of two arrows (along with MC) fired at Punchestown with CG going to Naas at the end of the month given that his presumptive NHC chase number one will likely be swerving that in favor of the DRF.

Looking further down the line one angle to consider is who would ride Dysart Dynamo if Townend sticks with Appreciate It. Thankfully it looks like Rachel could be free with Henry not having an Arkle horse.

                And vice versa?

But Willie has Danny Mullins at his disposal too who is a great jockey.

Danny is the best around right now in my opinion, if hes on DD in the Arkle I'd start counting my winnings before the race starts

Yeah, I really like him too.

Not sure I'd go as far as counting my winnings but I love the confidence.

just absolutely loved his debut and think the way Danny rides generally would suit him perfectly

There is nobody better on a front runner at Cheltenham and love Danny, but I certainly wouldn't be that confident. It's extremely tough front running and winning an Arkle. I'd also question DD in better company. Easy grinding rivals into submission in uncompetitive races, but he's had two proper tests and failed twice, falling once at Cheltenham then trying to front run at Punchestown and losing 54L to Mighty Potter. Maybe he was tired post festival because it was a good effort, but whats to say the G1 Arkle trial at the DRF wouldn't have the same effect? There is no question it was a superb chase debut from a great jumper that could very well just be a better chaser, but, some horses do really well at the start of the season making a mockery of easy fields in flamboyant fashion before finding the waters at the spring festivals too deep. Until he proves otherwise, DD could easily just be that horse.

Think he bled at Punchestown Charlie, so can be forgiven that effort. Was too bad to be true at the time and so it turned out.

It does still raise the question though when he’s asked for a proper effort will he be able to go with them or fold if the issue arises again.

It's as a fair question. It's also fair to say he may very well be a tool that has the answer, but he has to prove it. As short as 7/2 would suggest he's already proven in, when we all know he hasn't.

                              Had a fibrillating heart.

Willie seemed to suggest it was a common enough problem for race horses given their exertions.

That was it, cheers COD. Possibly fences would help a horse like Dysart Dynamo if it settles him in comparison to his run style over hurdles.
