Noticed bits of blue for State Man over fences too. Wonder if they're planning a switch? If WPM doesnt think they stand a hope in hell of beating CH then why not.

Trouble is, if Mullins takes that view with State Man then who exactly with C Hill be taking on come March ?
The last thing racing, and the festival, needs is for one of its' championship races to be a virtual walkover with a gun taking on handicappers.
And not sure where he'd fit State Man in over fences, with Sir Gerhard, El Fabiolo, Appreciate It, Dysart Dynamo, Classic Getaway (no doubt I've missed some) amongst his novice chase darts the pack would have to be shuffled to accommodate him...

      • Does anyone think there’s a chance El Fabiolo goes the Turners? Considering playing the 14s available before he runs tomorrow.

With AI being touted for the Arkle by Willie, I think 14/1 is fair

          • Willie previously said the below about El Fabiolo during his novice hurdle campaign too.

”You’d probably automatically say he’s a Supreme Novices' horse, but maybe we could change and ride him differently in the Ballymore. He’s got plenty of speed. If Paul is happy that he can settle him, that will be the key, then we could go for the Ballymore, but we’ll see.“

I could see similar quotes being said in relation to Arkle/Turners. Especially with the Sir Gerhard doubts now too

            • Does anyone else still think there's juice in Journey With Me's BANC price of 16/1 ?
              I'm half considering a press...

                I've gone in again Ista.
I had backed him at 22/1 with Sport Nation before their demise and held off re-backing until I saw him again.

He would be the most obvious HdB runner, so I think that 16/1 is fair,

Yeah I liked what I saw today, only thing stopping me is there appear to be one or two who we haven't seen yet who could be just as good/better.
16/1 has to be OK though....

I missed it live but thought it was a decent enough performance and there's plenty of room for improvement given his jumping. It worries me slightly that HDB seems reluctant to send him over 3 miles (Punch festival aside), and that's putting me off at the moment.

I'm not a fan after today's run and have cashed out everything I had on him for the Turners. I liked that he settled better today but he always seems to find very little at the business end imo. I'm not a layer but could see him being very short in running turning for home and then finding better horses staying on stronger and for longer.

The owners have Gerri Colombe and Gentlemansgame for the BANC and Henry always mentions JWM has speed so I think the BANC is a risk.

It's probably just as much risk backing him for speed though

To be fair, they looked like they went too hard today and paid for it at the finish.
Although I've personally written them off as bets for the festival (Flame Bearer & Journey with me) - I wouldn't back them at 33-1 or below, cashed them both at 33's - For win purposes.

I wouldn't write them off if I was someone else
                          Basically, they're not no-hopers.

I was sure he was 42 for the Turners yesterday and is 26 today.

It feels like your question should have ended with 'you c***'

Not sure if I'm happy that some might imagine that sort of thing (the ending of my sentences), or sad
On balance I'd side with it amusing me.

Just didn't spot any blue when I looked.
Not really anything on the exchange either.

                              On the other hand.
Sir Gerhard has been 210-1 and plenty of triple figures for the champion hurdle. But all taken in the last 2-3 weeks, and small amounts over 50-1 taken today.
                              Best priced 30-1 now.
