  • Clonmel goes ahead. Fair play given the overnight temps.

    • I think willie's comments on impaire are quite clear.

He's No2 behind facile as it stands.
If Facile is fit and well in March he runs supreme and impaire ballymore.
if not then impaire goes supreme.
      Clear as day. IMO
I also think at this point he sees both as his best chances.

Agree. All about what FV does at DRF now. If that goes to plan then it's as above.

The horses he beat that day have ran 8 times between them since.

No wins, 1 was placed - Lucky Zebo got third in a maiden at tramore (unseated at the first against GW)

They've been beaten a combined total of 565 lengths, which averages at about 70l.

I think with it being such a small track you do get a lot of dross turning up as it's on the doorstep.
The RPR he got is a joke.
The money and support he's got since is probably (not definitely, as he's with a master) lost. IMO.

              • Win today and then surely no hope of Ballymore for G Warrior? Never gone beyond 2 and if today is his final race before March then little chance he goes all the way up to 2m 5f.

I imagine that'll be because they fully expect him to win today. They seem to be cutting plenty before they run this season, which is rather annoying!

And pushed out from 14/1 to 20/1 for the Supreme yesterday. Wouldn't say that's just standard cutting before they run myself, although they flip flopped around Sir Gerhard and Dysart Dynamo plenty last season.

Sir Gerhard never went beyond 2m (ignoring his PTP) before he went to the Ballymore either.

I think this, coupled with him being the bumper winner, from the front pretty much, gave Willie little doubt he would stay the Ballymore trip. Gaelic Warrior has none of these credentials to his name, not even a 2m3f+ start over hurdles.

Yeah, I don't disagree. My point was more that running over more than 2 miles doesn't necessarily mean a great deal for Willie's Ballymore runners, whether he thinks they stay or not clearly is. There are very limited options over the mid trip in Ireland for novices, so it shouldn't be that surprising.

The fact that Willie mentioned the Ballymore straight after his Boodles defeat tells me that Willie thinks Gaelic Warrior will stay 2m5f no problem.

                            • Does is not seem like they are going to have a tilt at the county or martin pipe with G Warrior.

They haven't ran him in a graded race this season despite his experience.

The new course on the Friday will be better suited.

He will be one of the very few of the Mullins novices that can qualify for a Cheltenham handicap

I would say there are a fair number of mid trip options for him. If he was the number one Ballymore horse he would have taken precident over say running Imapire Et Passe at Naas, or Grangeclare West at Navan at the end of November.

I wonder if he'll be one of Willies back ups for the Supreme now, should he win today, then go on to the Betfair Hurdle.
