  • Gordon says American Mike did return with an issue. They are aware what it is and will give him a few weeks off and get him back on track. He's still convinced he's a very, very smart horse.

        • I was really impressed with Authorised speed yesterday. Again he hasn't beaten much, although 2nd has every chance of being half decent. His jumping does need to be better but he'll likely be back for the tolworth and he'll be very hard to beat.
There was one other hurdle race over the same distance on yesterdays card. A handicap hurdle won by love envoi. So just to get some kind of idea how authorised speed performed i did a few timings. I dont take these literally and it's important i remember he carried 5lb less than love envoi, so if he were in that handicap he would be running off 134 ( hypothetically).

From 2 out to the line i've timed authorised speed at 33.1 and love envoi at 35.6 so about 2.5 secs quicker, about 10 lengths in soft ground. Not bad considering his mistake. But that was the impressive thing for me. Even though he made that mistake, timed from taking off for 1 out to the line he was 18.1 and love envoi was 19.2.
He was able to quickly gather himself and get back up to speed, which shows me he had plenty left in the engine and there's much more to come.

If somebody could please try and get his named amended in william hills to win any race list it would be appreciated. currently spelt authorised spped. I've tried unsuccessfully. I'm a bit cautious of placing the bet without the correct spelling, am i being silly?

….that 25-1 a/r is a decent price given he’s generally that for both Sup & Bally, but Hills are a standout 33-1 so I imagine you’d be fine with the typo.

I think it fair to say that FV could win the Supreme or the Ballymore after watching him yesterday.Very impressive.

Having nice bets on jet Powered, selfishly I would like him to run next in the Lawlors and target the Ballymore. But my gut feeling is he will be in Supreme.
And to be honest right now the thought of FV against JP to start the festival is exciting!! I do like an Irish v Brits clash to get us going.
Be others of course but those two look ahead so far to me.

                These are my thoughts exactly.

I have absolutely zilch on FV in way of a single for the Supreme, but he wins what Willie wants him to win, IMO.

I know Jet Powered can improve plenty still but I think it's going to be a mammoth task to improve enough to worry FV.

                  Yep, that’s fair re JP.
Dont want to get carried away, but FV could be a very serious horse.
We are having quite a good time of it at the moment, so many potential stars appearing every week it seems.

                  • FV looked good but the rest weren't even interested in getting near him. Hurdled well at the start but he was a bit scrappy when he increased his pace. I'm sure he will learn when he's put into a proper race.

Nice introduction but I wouldn't be writing off any of the other good novices based on that performance yet.

The biggest positive for FV is that Mullins and Townend talk like he is a superstar and they know what a superstar looks like.

                    • Agree he could win any of the three novice hurdles. As always it'll be down to what else Willie has got and how he wants to shuffle around Vega. QDP could be a Supreme horse especially being RR's so I'll be watching him with interest. I too dont have anything to speak of at this moment on FV. Because he wasn't backable in the TWAR market I made an early decision to save and back him after decs or maybe NRNB as he was the one for me this season.

Yeah his hurdle debut was also a very solid run, wanted to see him pitch into a graded race after that for those who underestimated that run,but they were adamant another novice before Tolworth. Traditionally soft ground next month and will take a 140+ horse to beat him which on what we’ve seen this season I can’t see one that will.

Talking of prices, what do folk anticipate his SP will be for say the Supreme ? Already a general 5/4 & see a few have nibbled 6/4< for a few ton on the exchange so do folk really think he’s going to be say 4/6< on the day ?

Impossible to say . Depends on what else is in the race and how they perform pre race. If Jet Powered improves significantly next time then FV's price could hold slightly but I still expect him to go off very short.

Paddy Power have him 7/1 to win 2023 supreme and 2024 champion hurdle.
