  • 2m novice at Wexford should be a good race - The Mediator, Joyeux Machin and Inthepocket.

I think he is the first of Henry's big PTP purchases out this year.

    • ….Deeply Superficial looked like she’d just eaten her Sunday roast but jumped well and won relatively nicely on that heavy ground.

Have to think there’s plenty of improvement, into 8-1 MNH with PP, best price 10-1.

      • Deeply superficial jumped and travelled well and looks like Gordon has left a fair bit to work on

Law Ella a big eye catcher though

He went to a Listed mares race at Punchestown with Mount Ida in December after winning this with her. Be interesting to see if he follows a similar route.

…..might have an idea if GE is interviewed post-race.

He won that well and looked smart. Like to see him up in grade next time over 2m.

              • Not particularly impressive from Imagine was it. Not sure what was said afterwards?

"He is a grand horse and is a big galloper. Jack said he probably wants further.

"We are happy with his performance, but he would probably like the ground a bit better. He went through it, though, and got his head in front.

"It's good for Jack (Kennedy) as well on his first ride back (from suspension). We will have a look at what's coming up but we have no definite plan yet."

Cheers. Not rushing to back him for anything after that but one I'll still keep an eye on.

I would agree. I cashed out on that performance.

Can see Gordon has said he probably wants further. Can't really argue with that based on that performance.

                      • Letsbeclearaboutit in the early entries for down royal with American Mike

Could be an interesting bartlett horse if he still retains his ability after the injury

Ran very well in bumpers behind sir gerhard and kilcruit always looking like he needed much further

                        • Gordon has said that American Mike starts in the 2m6f.

Perhaps he's got the nod from Willie that Vega goes Ballymore.

Or much more likely he knows American Mike isn't a 2 miler and 2m4f or 2m6f makes little difference in a maiden hurdle

And down royal is the ideal starting point for AM building towards the lawlors of naas and ballymore

Willie doesn't even know where facile is ending up let alone getting on the blower to his main rival and telling him

                              • Would much rather see a Ballymore horse start over 2 miles personally.

City Island the only one of the last five that didn't start over hurdles at 2 miles. And he dropped back to 2 miles and won on his second start over hurdles.

Doubt Mike is going to start 2m 6f then drop back 6f next start but we'll see!

You can go back further and see some proper staying types but rather look at a recent sample personally. And you'll probably struggle to see many that start over as far as 2m 6f anyway!

I'd have it as a big negative for the Ballymore. Winning it that is. Could still run in it...

                                Cheeky edit there
