Yeah my original post mentioned that An Mhi supposedly ‘couldn’t be beat’ that day. He did let them down again next time though but he must work very well.

    • What do people think to destinations of the Mulryan novice hurdlers this season. Obviously they target the Ballymore each year as they sponsor the race but they have a few good novices this season.

James Gate - does look more like a stayer tbh
Embassy Gardens - really looks like a stayer
Barry The Butcher - could be go ballymore
Built By Ballymore - second in a bumper at the Punchestown festival

Unlikely any of them will be in the Supreme except maybe Barry (who may stick to bumpers).

James’s Gate is the pick on form and I’d have him in the Ballymore if he proves good enough. I’m not entirely convinced he’ll be a player though as I think it will be a competitive race this season.

Embassy Gardens looks like a slogger and only the Albert Bartlett would interest me. Not sure he’ll be that level but he showed a bit of promise and bumpers would not have been his forte.

Barry could be held back and given time potentially so
you’d want to know he’s going hurdling. He looks like he could have the pace for 2 miles and then possible step up.

Built By Ballymore is well related but the first progeny by Flemensfirth. I’d say the name is accurate in regards to his target - Ballymore.

I don't think this could be more perfectly said.

If Barry goes for a hurdle he would be a max Supreme bet for me if starting at 2m.

I wouldn't be interested in any other of there's.

          • Only interested at this point with James Gate. His last running was all wrong and can be ignored. Judge him by his super run in the Cheltenham Bumper for one so inexperienced. Willie always gushes when he discusses him. No idea where he'll end up which is why he's in my TWAR team.

He likes him yesGushes sounds rude. Squirting is banned on the forum.

Given who owns him if he's good enough to run at Cheltenham it'll surely be in the ballymore

Whatdeawant was all over a bartlett horse and ran in the ballymore where he had pretty much no chance

He does look more a stayer. His only poor run was on quickish ground at Punchestown which Willie blamed his defeat on. His other two runs were very good but were both in testing conditions.

He's by Shantou as well so it makes me think he is a stayer as well. Can understand why they would go Ballymore, given connections, but think he'd be best suited by a Bartlett, personally.

I do think it'll come down to where Facile Vega runs. Mullins will switch his group around him. I fear not many will want to take him on.

James Gate has no chance in the Ballymore. Much better horses likely aimed at it. He's a mid 140s horse for me which wouldn't be good enough for a Cheltenham Festival novice race

It probably depends on how he jumps. If it's like Dunguib they will all take him on. There's no guarantees a hurdle will improve FV and so they will all be taking him on.

I’m going to agree with you now. I think people put too much stock into the colours. Yes it’s likely he’ll run in the Ballymore due to ownership but that does not guarantee he’ll be good enough. The Champion Bumper is also not always the best form guide for the following seasons novices hurdles at the festival either.
