  • Lovely run from Sandor Clegane, don’t think he beat much mind you, the horse in second was beaten almost 40 lengths by Absolute Notions at Punchestown previously & Demandrivingdouvan is a dog, the Doyle’s should have been wearing balaclavas when the sold him for that price!

    • Sandor Clegane looked good but I can't see him beating Three Card Brag over any trip.

      • Paul Nolan confirmed the Albert Bartlett is the target for Sandor Clegane:

Trainer Paul Nolan said: “Sean said he felt like a proper horse and said three out he just came alive.

“He said 'it's going to take a good one to beat me' and when he heard a horse coming behind him he just quickened up.

“Over a trip he can do that and he needs that trip. It doesn't happen very often, unless maybe at Limerick, but we actually think he'll handle real heavy ground every bit the same as that and that would put others out of their comfort zone.

"I was a little bit worried about the inside track first time around as you can see some of the horses aren't handling it.

“It's nice to get back with some of the good ones. We'll aim for the Albert Bartlett, we might as well aim high.

“Hopefully he'll come out of it grand and we'll work from there.

“We had very little during the summer and then a few little things went wrong. Hopefully we have a few nice ones to come, and he's one of them. He had got beat it was going to be a long struggle.”
Sandor Clegane was impressive in running away with the featured Connolly's RED MILLS EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle over an extended two miles five furlongs at Punchestown.

          • That supposed 650k on Demandrivingdouvan. Ouch.

            Makes Interconnected look cheap.

Clever naming & the connected PTP media push led to a very clever heist

To my untrained eye he looks to have a very rounded knee action and will be best on very soft ground

I’d be weary of using Impulsive Dancer as a form marker. I was at Naas the day he beat Douglas DC & he just looked like a horse cherry ripe to make a few bob in a quick sale beating a rubbish Gordon Elliott / Jamie Codd overbet sort.

ID was nothing to look at in the ring & on course despite winning!

Account limit resets tomorrow and been waiting to add this one…

Penhill ran in the Royal bond before winning the Albert bartlett

wouldn't surprise me if he ran in any of the 3 novice hurdles

I think thats where he will end up. He quickened off a strong pace at Tipperary so well. What I really liked about that performance is how he quickened when they straightened before Danny got after him. That, coupled with being well backed for the Royal Bond and being entered in the Champions Novice Hurdle over 2m puts Albert Bartlett chat firmly in the bin for now IMO. I say for now as obviously the outcome of those races could see him stepped up, but I don't see it. He showed plenty of stamina over the summer and I think intermediate trips will be his bag. Everything points towards FV being Supreme bound for now so it all shapes up nicely for the Ballmore IMO.

Speaking of which, Patrick said re Grangeclare West yesterday 'the way he came up the hill was a bit like Vautour' - what a comment. I bloody love that
