    2022 - Whatdeawant - Ballymore
    2021 - Blue Lord - Supreme
    2020 - Elixir D'ainay - Supreme
    2018 - Next Destination - Ballymore
    2017 - Augusta Kate - Albert Bartlett
    2016 - Bellshill - Supreme
    2015 - Tell Us More - Supreme
    2014 - Briar Hill - Albert Bartlett
    2013 - Champagne Fever - Supreme
How do you deduce that the Ballymore is a preference over the Bartlett mate?

Only the Supreme is the stand out, the other two are in the list above twice so both as likely?

Supreme would be the last place I'd be expecting Grangeclare West out of the 3 races, FWIW.

By Presenting and a dam who is by Sir Harry Lewis. Next to no chance for the Supreme, is my personal opinion.

I don't have him onside and I'm kicking myself at missing getting him on board as well. I really like him.

    • ….the quote I read from Mullins re Grangeclare was;

’I’m not sure he’s entered in the G1 at Christmas, if not the obvious race would be the Lawlors.”

Perhaps if he does have an entry for the G1, he might not go to Naas. I think those entries are out tomorrow.

The grade 1 at Christmas is over 2m isn’t it?

….the G1 Leopardstown Christmas Hurdle, I think that’s over 3m. (Edit; not novice hurdle).

Oh right! I thought he meant the novice Grade 1. Didn’t even consider him stepping into open company. That would be interesting.

            • 3m (or near enough) grade 1 novice hurdle at Limerick over Xmas isn't there?

Grade 2 I believe over 2m7F and its normally heavy.

Ah ok - I'd have thought that was the race Willie was referring to but obviously could be wrong. Doubt heavy ground would be a reason for him not to run at Xmas (but again could be wrong!)

It was more that his preference was not the Albert Bartlett.

Agree that the Supreme is the least likely of the 3, for sure.

Hopefully he does a Yorkhill who was also by Presenting.

Yeh there is a lot to like about him. I got lucky after a pal told me last week to back him for the AB, which I ignored and took 50's for the Ballymore

Wouldn't surprise me if they went over 3 miles with him though so not getting too excited.

I haven't watched it back or seen the sectionals but I am hoping it was good. I think the 3 horses chasing him home 13L behind cost over a million between them, so its probably a decent maiden, but time will tell.

                    • Having watched it back on a better quality stream

Grangeclare west pulled very hard at the start of his race would worry me for a bartlett if that carries on

And his jumping was pretty poor which would worry me for a ballymore. Was generally quite slow at them on the first circuit and made funny shapes at 6th, 5th and 4th last hurdles losing ground at each. Then made another funny shape at the last.

This made what happened at the end hugely impressive though and he clearly has a large amount of ability. He brushes up that jumping hes a huge player, and you can definitely forgive a horse a few jumping errors on hurdles debut.

He also missed the entirety of last season which would worry me for an ante post bet now iv missed the big prices

Interesting comments will watch back and take notes, last paragraph has crossed my mind more than once.

                          Yep ^^^

I got burnt by Ferny Hollow last season and couldn't have GW until NRNB kicks in. Well in for those on at bigger though, the horse has been talked about for a few seasons now so hopefully he stays fit and has a chance to do the business. I wonder if Parmenion will do likewise on hurdles debut in about 2025 ?

Is he injured mate? Been bloody waiting on an entry for him.

                            • ….I wonder if GWs performance yesterday surprised Mullins. I’d normally expect him to have a route to the Festival mapped out but Mullins wasn’t sure if GW had an entry over Christmas.

                              • I'm not giving up on American Mike. Jack said he was never travelling from a long way out. Based on AM running flat and how highly Gordon rates him, I hope he doesn't run again until NRNB kicks in and I will top up to make him a strong bet. Reminds me a little of Samcro's start in his novice chase season.
