If you’ve got it, it would be handy to see what he said.
Over 2M4F he isn’t going to be a Grade 1 horse, but over 3M it becomes completely different territory."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

….Elliott re American Mike;
”He didn’t really do much, Jack said he was asleep under him most of the way. He said there’ll be plenty of improvement & he was always just in 2nd gear. He was a bit novicey at a few but was good over the last two & Jack said he’ll come on so we’re happy. The plan is definitely Navan (Monksfield Hurdle).”Last edited by Eggs; 4 November 2022, 06:12 PM.

Bartlett bound?
He needs 2m4f or further
Otherwise he'd have said he's a proper stayer that needs 3 miles already
He looks to have loads of class and will be tough to beat in either the 2m5f ballymore or the bartlett
It may be as simple as the ground on the week, soft ground ballymore, quick ground bartlett
He definitely has the cruising speed for the ballymore but his jumping was a bit sticky
No way to say either way at this stage

It's no surprise to hear Gordon wanting to keep American Mike away from Facile Vega. Jamie Codd's comments last year were one of shock that Facile Vega so easily dispatched their superstar. Probably get some Willie (and Patrick) mindgames now winding him up about FV's Cheltenham target with an FV entry in the Ballymore pushing Gordon towards the AB race.
Don't forget too that he desperately wants to award Bective with a much needed festival first win, even more so now after the tragic Ginto. The Gordon camp probably very confident they have the novice hurdler winner in the race that FV just doesn't appear in!!

Shanbally Kid at 50/1 for the Albert Bartlett is one I’ve been tipping away at for the last few weeks, the style of his bumper win screamed a dour stayer & his breeding backs it’s up. I’d rather have a good e/w cut at him than take American Mike at single digits whose sire has never had a Cheltenham winner if my memory serves me correctly
