  • Cobden is such a stylish rider, looks like Ruby when he knows he's got horse underneath him. Just motionless in the saddle.

Learnt little. Probably isn’t very good but the way he hit the fourth last and then came to a standstill sidestepping the faller at the last makes it bloody difficult to use as form.

          • Was never going to be visually impressive on that ground, although better jumps at the last two he would certainly have looked better.
Tough race for novices and will stand him in good stead going forward once recovered.
Be interesting to see him on better ground.
I won’t be cashing out anyway.

One for next year over fences up in trip I'd say

Usual Nicholls type where the old cliche anything he does this year is a bonus applies

Not being funny but people are trying so hard to crab Facile Vega, the 2nd American Mike bolted up in his maiden then went a suicidal pace with Affordale and subsequently bursting and the 3rd is OFTS, the rest were left in their wake.

                    Not really

Plenty of other pots to win

The national hunt season would be much healthier as a whole if more trainers had nicholls attitude.

Summed up by todays Post race interview where a horse has just won a grade 1 and the first question is Cheltenham related.

                    Same in the King george

If I owned a good horse there's only one British trainer I'd be sending it too and thats nicholls, Skelton would be up there too if he had a different jockey.

                      And the third is injured

American mike is likely still very good but had physical problems second time out. The hourse he beat on the bridle on debut finished 2nd in the grade 2 over xmas at limerick.

                      the rest were well beaten

                        Agree.

You have to say as well it was a bog on the Wednesday last year, ground which wouldn’t suit FV at all and he still battered them. On better ground he would have beaten them much much further. To me he so far clear than anything in the Supreme division this year

Also Authorized Speed only came 5th in that because it was heavy which suits him

I'd think on better ground the first two would've pulled well clear

And redemption day would've likely finished 3rd

                              • The Supreme just looks pretty dire doesn't it? I think I'll just wait til the day now and back Marine Nationale/Rare Edition in all the Money Back Special. The Champion Bumper form is looking worse and worse with each horse who runs from it, wouldn't touch Facile Vega with a barge pole at those prices.
