american mike on the other hand I wouldn’t be sure, initial thought is he has the look of a horse who wants a rise in trip to the ballymore, but he was second in the champion bumper and travels well in his races, and it could turn into a case of running in whichever race facile Vega doesn’t run in, which could make the supreme an option.
I’d highly doubt the Bartlett is an option for either one though at this moment in time, and like I said if it becomes an option I feel it would be because they have been a disappointment.

Thanks RR. Agree with FV but I do think AM may well end up in the Albert as he looks a proper galloper to me and one that will appreciate a trip. Whatever happens I do think AM will avoid FV if their Bumper form plays out.

Obviously, plans can change (see Ginto) but it's a pretty firm indication as to his destination.

If I had to guess, I'd imagine his mid-season target will be the Lawlor's of Naas and onto Cheltenham (probably the Ballymore unless he gets done for toe at Naas) from there.

I've listened to that interview countless times and my feeling is that Gavin leads Gordon to the Ballymore. Gordon emphasises a step up in trip which could mean Ballymore or Albert. For me though, if Vega goes Ballymore then Mike won't!! The Supreme looks out for him I'd say.Last edited by Lobos; 6 October 2022, 09:34 AM.

Personally (and I may be way off) but I’m not buying into the thinking of American Mike going to the AB just to avoid Facile Vega. If Gordo believes Mike to be his best chance over the Ballymore trip (which I believe he will be) then I’m sure his whole season will be campaigned that way regardless of how Willie decides to campaign FV. And for all we know FV’s race will be up in the air probably until the week leading up to Cheltenham with Mullins bingo mindgames.
American Mike whilst looking like a galloper isn’t short of a bit of speed judging by his bumpers and the extra 5 furlongs he’ll be asked to run will I’m sure see AM as a leading contender for the Ballymore if he takes to hurdling

Aslong as Facile stays unbeaten at 2m then surely he goes to the opener and that’s even with Willie as the trainer.
if Redemption Day was to to turn him over at DRF or wherever should they clash at 2m then that’s when FV may step up.

Mike will be a lot better over hurdles and up in distance although likely won't match Facile.
As I say the talk of him starting at anything above 2 miles or going 3 miles this season totally unfounded as thats not what the stable plan right now.
With Willie as always they'll start at 2miles, don't see a reason they'll up in distance unless he needs too. With that stride lenght and travelling speed can't see why Facile wouldn't excel at 2 miles.
