Nothing in the 2m division has run above 145 yet, the other divisions they have(my ratings and other racing ratings) that's why it's the weakest to date this season. Since when does trainer comments validate a price . A fez bumper winner by Mullins is always going be under priced and that's exactly what he is to date.

Marine Nationale got 147 for the Royal Bond (second run), and the very impressive Impaire Et Passe got 143 for first run (compared to FV’s 129) so division is much more open than Willie’s claiming in his quotes.

That Marine Nationale rating is a farce though. 5 pounds higher than Irish Point for a head beating.

I won't even comment on the Impaire et Passe rating as he didn't run near 143.

As I said my ratings plus others I have it different, I'm not saying it's sewn up it's the majority of others that are but we've seen very little of noteworthy performance thus far and he's priced as such but like he's already achieved a G1 novice fig. I'll say no more as I'm repeating myself.

But you're saying it's the most open division, when a trainer who has a horse who has hit 150 rpr over 2 miles on seasonal re-appearance, and is being more bullish about another, yet he's only a short price because it's a weak division??

No I'm saying it's a WEAK division at present(IMO clearly) because nothing has come out and actually posted anything worthy of such prices and those who have posted modest figs are priced as such. We all use racing resources/ratings to some degree myself included but remember these are the same folks who dish out, outlandish ones like the SOLO 157 OR after his Adonis run. We obvs disagree about this but I'll take my eyes and figs over trainer talk/hype like any sensible punter would.

I think the Supreme is far more interesting after today. FV is clearly a very good horse, but 11/10 this side of 2023 must equal a monster and IMO he's no monster. Don't get me wrong, he went about his business well today and did a lot right, but his jumping wasn't super slick and he didn't finish his race as strongly as I would have liked for a horse who is that short. I'm splitting hairs but we have to when they are that short. Willie confirming they'll stick to the minimum trip is a lovely post race comment as it means we can steam into the ballymore. Will be interesting to see what rating he's given.

Sorry, didn’t realise you were referring to your own ratings. Interested to hear what you have for the runs of the different horses. Genuinely not carping - just curious to how you work it out.

Its not a weak division and you have no substance to your argument. Facile vega might be a weak favourite and I think that's what you really mean but I'm not going to put words in your mouth

Are we jumping the gun a little here
Most of the top novices have had 2 runs, and I think yards have really struggled to get their novices up to speed after a prolonged period of firm ground, following by 1-2 weeks of frost
It wouldnt suprise me if some of the novices are only at 70-80% and have plenty of improvement to come as we head into the main event in Spring

Its only December, Mullins normally starts flying around the DRF...

When asked to give a mark out of 10; “I’d nearly have to give him 11 and half. Plan A went out of the window after the first hurdle. Thankfully Il Etait Temps didn’t bring him down, Paul said he was very close to it because he absolutely winged the hurdle. Then he had to make his own running. He did it well, he got very free at the first hurdle down the back and took some jump at it. I was delighted to see that but I knew he couldn’t keep that up.

Paul got him back, got him into a slower rhythm & got him jumping better. He said he was still racing in his hands the whole way but he eventually settled for him.

i think he’ll learn an awful lot today. The big crowd and all the buzz before the race itself, all that will be a help for him in the future.”

When asked if FV would be sticking to 2 miles, Mullins said; “I wouldn’t be looking for anything else.”
