Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Yes I know but I do think there are a few horses of exceptional ability which are the exception to the rule and if Shishkin can rediscover his form then, for me, he would fit into that category. It’s a big ‘if’ but if he did and was to have a better preparation next season then he would have a chance, IMO.

        He’s currently 20/1, think that’s ok.
Pretty sure the Gold Cup will be the target, and he will be trained accordingly.
Just hope it’s not a year too late!!
If a horse can win as a 10 year old, I think a horse with his proven ability would be one.

Hendo has alluded to this (Gold Cup) being his plan for next season several times and the way he hit the line in the Ryanair suggests he could be a player.
Just makes me wonder they went back for a second crack at the Champion Chase 12 months ago, he can't have become a 3m+ horse overnight...

          • You'll have a better idea if he goes for the Bowl at Aintree but next season he'd be a complete barge-pole job for me.

            • I can understand people being cautious about backing him, but imo a little e/w wager at 20/1 is fair enough, and I have had a go.
I can see the possibility of him getting a lot shorter as the season goes , although of course it could go the other way and all come to nothing.
Be interesting watching it pan out though.

              • I've had a free bet (1pt) on him at 25's with BFSB. It's certainly a better bet than The Real Whacker at 20/1.

I'll be interested to see a Win Today and price for that.

If he doesn't win the bowl at Aintree - particularly if he's out stayed - he isn't winning the GC.

                  • The problem with Shishkin for me now, is how well he takes and recovers from his races. They’ve said post race ‘maybe ascot took too much out of him’ which is fair but it’s 4 weeks from the Ryanair to the Bowl so a similar break.

Hes going to be a horse that punters will risk because of his natural ability. For me, if you gave me a free bet for the Bowl it wouldn’t be going on Shishkin, I would have said the same pre-Ascot as well.

I love Shishkin but I just don’t know if I can trust him now, even though NH is a genius.

Not sure I trust him either, but it’s all about the price for me.
Im willing to lose a small outlay at current prices , I think it’s a risk worth taking at the odds.
Like said before it’s possible he could line up in the gold cup at lot shorter odds.
To me on a going day like Ascot was, he’s still a serious horse and that day he looked like he would go a lot further to my eyes.
Anyway, he’s onside now, and I look forward to seeing how he does stepped up.

                      • The way I see it is he's got one crack at the Gold Cup and I'll end up backing him sooner or later. So may as well take 25's now and get it over with at minimal cost.

He did look a bit mulish in the Ryanair

Maybe some headgear is needed to keep him concentrating

Or give him a decent gap between runs

By minimal cost I meant a free bet. Although I still think if he stays 3miles,and is given time between his races he's got a chance.
