    I'm not seeing that

Paul was just letting him pop the fences today trying to keep him as relaxed as possible

There's no doubt if he needed to jump better he could
He's a certainty then, fill your boots

    • One thing I did like is although it was only 3m today, Galopin ran right through the line. Not many horses run over the gold cup trip prior to the race itself so we can’t say yes or no if he will stay.

Will it be that truly run this year? Ahoy may be the one to do it, I don’t see many others that will want to make it. Possibly Minella Indo?

Fury Road carried him down the last fence then he’s put a good distance from the last to the line.

At the moment, I want to take him on.
Naturally a game of opinions but he also want losing ground was he?

Stattler is now somehow the 2nd fav after that but was top 5 in the betting anyway, it wasn't like (with all respect) it was Frodon or Royale Pagaille he didn't distance.

        • Just got in and watch all the racing back after not knowing results.

I just can't understand the negativity re GDC???!!

What did he do wrong? He beat a very good horse into 2nd who may get a little closer over further but surely can't beat GDC. He certainly wasn't stopping at the line.

          • Perhaps slightly controversial opinion

Stattler won't even place in the gold cup

I'll raise you, and slightly more controversial, GDC won't place.

If that floated around evens I imagine I'd consider a second mortgage.

It is shaping up to be a second rate GC imo

                  Is it though.....

The last two GC winners should be running, RSA runner up, KG winner, NHC winner, 2 x Irish GC winners, grand national winner and betfair bowl winner. We've even got the American Grand National winner to make it an international affair.

There's only really Lhomme Presse missing

Well you will likely be able to lay that at 1/2-1/3 on the day

                    • I’d be very surprised if GDC ridden any other way than to win doing the least possible today. Townend was hardly going to send it 4 out after the bollocking he had for daring to touch Lossie in the previous race. I’d be amazed if he were ridden so conservatively in the GC. I think they’ll let him go a lot earlier.

Good to see he still hits the line very well.

He got 2 taps and went away, he's beaten the second favourite 8 lengths and to me Stattler wasn't really closing after the last
                        Yeah, kind of?

He's being talked up (not on here exactly) but like he's better than Kauto Star and Denman - I personally felt disappointed today.

to me, it's like Samcro ..... he was being bigged up like he was better than Faugheen.

Or Envoi Allen, or Bob Olinger....

I'm gonna say it.... Galopin Des Champs is over rated.

                          Yeah, very fair....

It's GDC being put in a bracket he really does not deserve to be in.... his fall when he'd have beaten ....... the mighty Bob Olinger ..... is just not that good is it?

He was decent today.... but better horses have gone off bigger prices for Gold Cups....

Yeah, he's good but still has to prove it.

APT was ridiculously impressive last year off a slow pace, and Stattler (and others) should be suited if they go hell for leather.

I don't think he's the penalty kick that plenty of people seem to think he is.

                            It's a fascinating race imo.

                            • Think it's looking a very exciting race this.

I thought Galopin never looked better than at the end of the race, but can also say the same of Stattler, and I'm not convinced Fury Road is an out and out stayer, so it may have looked like both were staying really well against a non stayer, IMO.

My big single winner is Conflated and I'm glad Gordon has a line through Fury Road on them now, I think he goes with a right chance.

Conflated being 50/1 does give off some excitement....

I am gutted L'Homme Presse isn't running, although was gutted he didn't swat away Bravemansnochance .... so ultimately I'm playing catch up.

Part of me wants to buy into the hype around GDC and just enjoy it, but I feel I've seen too many simialr types get jizzed over before their time!
