    • Sickener that Presse news, been so many high profile injuries and we aren’t even within the last few weeks when work and more injuries crank up.

      • Conflated.....

We’re probably veering towards heading straight to Cheltenham,” said Eddie O’Leary, racing manager for owners Gigginstown House Stud.
“It will be down to Gordon, but I imagine we’ll be going straight there.

“He will get the entry for Leopardstown and we will see how he is. I imagine it is more likely we will go straight to Cheltenham than run at Leopardstown, but we will see what the ground and everything else is like and make a decision then.”

On his Cheltenham chances, O’Leary continued: “Is he good enough to win a Gold Cup? I do not know. Will he get the chance to prove it? He definitely will.

“I suppose it’s quite hard to believe it (he is good enough), like he won very well (in the Savills Chase) but is the second good enough to feature in a Gold Cup? You would doubt it.

“There’s a horse called Galopin Des Champs in the way, who looks to be very good.”

        • Lhomme presse was one of the few pace angles

Gonna be a similarly run race to last year by the looks

Indo & Stattler both have to be prominent to utilise their stamina, expect both to try & be handy and attempt to set a pace. I say attempt as if GDC comes through the IGC with flying colours his cruising speed is ridiculous so be irrelevant.

            • I'd be pretty sure Ahoy Senor would take them along if no-one else was willing.

              • How is a horse beaten in the Ultima 2nd favourite for the Gold Cup

Noble Yeats at 7/1 is hilarious.

Obviously just picking out the Ultima is foolish, he automatically warrants respect for his stamina proven National victory ... but is he anywhere near the class to win a decent version of a Gold Cup?

Usually I end up at some point, pointing out plenty of boats that've won this race, but that price is absolutely gross.

I see he was 100/1 back in October.... if only....

His beating of Dashel Drasher and Ahoy Senor is nowhere near Gold Cup standard is it.

Though you'll get a lot of punters betting on him as they'll be pissed up at the pub and recognize the name.

                  • Re watch his last win Kev and the acceleration he showed in the last couple of furlongs. Never seen anything like it. Like you I can't see him being good enough but if GDC doesn't stay and with big doubts surrounding APT , Lhomme Presse missing, the race all of a sudden looks very open.

I agree it was impressive. The only caveat I would attach is I think it looked faster than it was with the camera angle as he veered to the left. That said, it was impressive.

I did this morning before I posted.... and came to the same conclusion, he's too short.

                        • The support and current odds for Nobel Yeats and on the exchange is quite strange. He should be double figures.
But the market for most races is compressed at the moment as is usually the case, little value to be had, and any bets made will likely only benefit from defections or improved performances.
I agree with the comments above that his form does not merit his price and the visual impression he gave was potentially misleading.
However, someone thinks he's worth backing and it won't be the casual punters just yet.
He's a dangerous contender but could also blow out at Lingfield next up.
Even if he did I wouldn't rule him out.

                          • Essentially - backing Noble Years at 7-1 now is probably only going to pay off if he wins next time out and another 2 of the top 8 in the market defect.
Or the big whammy of GDC not turning up.

                            • The horses he beat in the National are the kind of horses you can back in Gold Cups at 50/1 plus on the day and you're hoping for each way returns...

That's where he is..... so single figures is way too short, for all he's a bit bitter than those types...

Anyone on at 25/1+ each way, fair enough. 7/1 is terrible ......... If I had a spare 700k I'd try and lay him at 1/7

You should have been on here after his win, it was like Royale Pagaille all over again
