It's the only route at Grade 1 for him (after next week's races are run), so he will do it.

    • Possibly to Tramore and the Boum route if he comes out of yesterday fine then straight to Cheltenham.

I’d say next to no chance of this happening Lobos. He will contest an open Grade 1 over 3m before the Gold Cup.

Do they need to though ? His target is 100% decided and he doesn't need to get in a war with anyone pre festival. Easy prep then Cotton Wool time until March. Makes sense no ?

Bit too close to yesterday though isn't it

Possibly but there must be other 'walkover' options. He will probably go the G1 route but my point is....does he need to. I don't think so. They know how good he is and that he's their Number 1 GC horse.

I would say yes, would you not? Yes he’s there number one for the race but it’s the Irish Gold Cup, what if all trainers thought the same? He’s never contested an open Grade 1 chase at 3m. There’s loads of time between the DRF and Cheltenham. WPM runs all his main horses for the graded races at the DRF.

Good mic drop there Lobos however, RP does show he was a non runner in the Irish Gold Cup in the year he won his first Cheltenham Gold Cup, so ABP could have ran at Leopardstown had the ground been in his favour

Al boum had contested 3m chases as a novice though.

                      • Just playing Devils Advocate. Mullins insists GC distance no issue so he really doesn't need to prove himself over 3m+ prior to March. That's all I'm saying.

                        • ….for anybody interested in L’Homme Presse.

Hills offer 16-1 KG/GC in their enhanced odds (12-1 with Sky & PP).

                          • At current prices, that's probably a fair bet isn't it. Will be quite impressed if he can actually win a KG though. GC will suit much better imo. Wouldn't be too keen on taking the 2/1 or below for the KG so I guess it's not for me, but hope he wins. Could do with the Gold Cup looking a cracker, and GDC looking a beast and L'homme winning the KG would be a good start to that!

                            Bit pointless this post

                              Lobos,

                              He’ll be going -

                              dublin racing festival
                              cheltenham festival
                              punchestown Festival

And he’ll be absolutely seen next in the Irish Gold Cup. It’s 3 miles & half a furlong. It’s a Cheltenham Gold Cup prep run.

This is where you’ll see Galopin next.
