….now a best price 12-1 & only 14-1 in Hills specials. Surprised the 20-1 lasted so long.

      • 10 months ago Noble Yeats finished 9th in the Ultima off 147, now he's being touted for a Gold Cup.

He was very good today, but I don't believe Dashel Drasher is getting within 30 1/2 lengths of a Gold Cup winner let alone 3 1/2 lengths, and as for Ahoy Senor, he's a pig.

Noble Yeats clearly has a liking for Aintree though, so a follow up in the National would still be on the cards, IMO.

I think it was just brilliant placing by Emmet, today, something we shouldn't be that surprised about, given his record in recent seasons.

          I kind of agree.
          but stranger things have happened
And I’m not sure I could name any grand national winner who could have done that today.
Most never win a race again.
Horse is clearly talented. And only 7.

I'm not sure I can name any chaser who has won over 3m showing that electric turn of pace 2f out. He was like a sprinter. Extraordinary.

I don't know the sectionals or timings of the race but could it have been that Noble Yeats' stamina kicked in and Ahoy Senor fell into a bit of a hole, having raced so freely, and that was Dashel Drashers first ever try over 3m, so his stamina was tested to the absolute max for him.

I know it wasn't a handicap but it's got shades of Royale Pagaille all over again, when many were getting giddy about him for the Gold Cup after an impressive win.

For me he's about 15lbs short of what is required for a Gold Cup. Fair enough if your on the 150's, that was a great price and definitely a realistic price, but not at his current one. I'm not even a big fan of Hewick, but I think I'd much fancy his chances over Noble Yeats in the Gold Cup. Ultimately I won't be backing either unless the race falls to bits.

              • Don't get me wrong COD there's no way I'm backing him or Hewick for the GC. I was just pointing out that Wowser moment when his turbos set in. I was shocked !

                • Is a 3 1/4 win over Dashel drasher gold cup form?

Or a 5L win over Sounds Russian?

2 completely different tracks, and a fair way below GC standard for me, FOR ALL he could improve plenty at his age still. But the 10/1 quotes are very tight imo.

                  • Call me crazy but I've decided to get stuck into Shishkin to win the big one at 33/1. On the back of that tingle creek run you'd probably say I need my head checking but IMO I don't think he's gone, I just think he's slow and not enjoying jumping at pace. He's bred to get a trip same sire as Don Cossack, everything we've seen him do recently shows stamina and not speed. Personally, I think it's class that forced him down the 2 mile route in the first place. When you think of the gold cup horses gone by a lot performed vey well in the Arkle before going on to bigger and better things once upped in trip. Kauto would most probably have won an Arkle having not got injured, Sizing John 2nd, Kicking King 2nd, bloody War of Attrition 7th. What with Al Boum Photo now retired and Asterion probably going to be held back for Punchestown due to injury, Donnelly doesn't have anything noticeable for the gold cup, unless Gaillard Du Mesnil puts down a marker today and they switch up plans. I can see Nicky throwing Caution to the wind and sending him over 3 miles in a low key affair before maybe attending trials day the race won last year by Chantry.

                    • I like the angle ^, but it wasn’t that long ago when we all thought he was a unbeatable 2 miler.
two bad runs and now he’s a gold cup horse, feels like desperation to me, especially after this “rare bone condition”, I wonder if that come back all a sudden despite connections saying he’s over that

“needs the trip”… feels like an(other) excuse to me

                      • De Bromhead identifies "issues" with A Plus Tard

                        https://www.racingtv.com/news/a-plus...disappointment

Henry de Bromhead has not totally ruled out a Christmas date for A Plus Tard despite the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner suffering “a couple of issues” following his disappointing comeback at Haydock.
The eight-year-old was sent off the 1-2 favourite to repeat his victory of 12 months previously in the Betfair Chase but Rachael Blackmore never looked completely happy.

No explanation could be found on the day for his lacklustre display – the first time in 20 races A Plus Tard had failed to make the frame.

However, De Bromhead is hopeful he may have discovered what was ailing him and, should A Plus Tard come through his next few tests positively, there is still a possibility he could run at Leopardstown during the festive period.

“He had a couple of issues and we are working on them now and he seems much better. I hope they aren’t serious (issues), he seems in great form so hopefully not, but we have to do a few more tests,” said De Bromhead.

“He won’t necessarily bypass Leopardstown at Christmas and we don’t know yet for sure. He seems great, so once he passes the couple of tests and we are happy with him, we’ll go but we’ll see nearer the time.”

                            Great spot opatcho

Watched the show today and the only time Ruby looked a bit shifty was during the exchange you quote.

Not drawing any conclusions but Ruby’s hand movement was out of kilter with his gestures during the other 50+ minutes.

                            Just saying….

Lobos I did explicitly say "I'm not drawing any conclusions" .

So the answer to your question is No.

But Ruby's hand gesture while discussing the horse was interesting imo.

It's an excellent show and well worth a watch if you haven't already seen it.

I'm a huge fan of Ruby and maybe his hand gesture meant absolutely nothing.

                                I honestly don't know.

Galopin Des Champs didn't make his seasonal debut until December 28 last year (his chasing debut) so maybe he's just having a normal prep and everything is fine.

But when a top trainer or someone like Ruby speaks we look for clues/hidden meanings etc that will give us an edge or a steer about what's going on.

Sometimes that search for clues/hidden meanings can mean we misinterpret what was said. I got it totally wrong with Old Victoria after Gordie's glowing words in his stable tour.

But once something is highlighted it's best to take a look for yourself. In this instance, watch the show look up the perceived meaning of such hand gestures and then draw your own conclusions about whether they add up to anything or nothing.

Or just take my word for it Lobos - L'Homme Presse is the most likely winner of the Gold Cup
