Just looked at the previous winners of the Grade 1 Sefton at Aintree which Gelino won easily last season. Several have turned out top, top horses and have gone on to win the Stayers Hurdle.
For what it’s worth, I gave Tim Palin a message on Twitter about Marie’s Rock Cheltenham target earlier today and he’s just got back to me saying both races are on the table but the Mares is still most likely
Much appreciated, thank you
Just been looking at my bets, and her race is rather vital for me.

Was one of the worst renewals of all time he won though

Gelino and Thistlecrack were rated exactly the same after winning that race (Gelino rated higher going into it). Thistlecrack won the Cleeve and Stayers the following season ending up on 174.

Thistlecrack didn't beat horses rated 134, 125 and 131 in his renewal

I must admit, I'm struggling to see the appeal on GB.
Best of luck with him though.
I think comparing him to Thistlecrack or Big Bucks is chalk and cheese stuff. Nothing about GB excites me at all. That said, the enthusiasm I did have for him was tempered a fair bit by his average Chase performances.

Of course it's chalk and cheese now, going into tomorrow's race. Yes he'll need to improve a lump but it is possible, he's still only 7. He has a chance and the fact he's even been aimed at the race gives supporters hope.
