Done what he had to do, I won't be getting him onside, I absolutely knew what this place would be like for a performance that should be expected like that, in the words of Quevega it's like a bukkake party

Yeah, even though I'm on him. It was a nice performance and encouraging but the form is gash.
The positive is the form of his previous win isn't gash.
maybe it's the gash that inspired the bukkake.

The negatives will be the usual "cheltenham form" and "ground" doubts on the day.
Not too worried about the course form, as he cut out like a light last time.
But the ground maybe more of a concern.

Not that he won't act, just that he appears to have a really good knack of quickening on really soft ground which many of his rivals don't have.
If it's soft at the festival he's a worthy favourite for me.
And he's worthy enough without that on overall form and potential to improve for the distance.
Travels nicely behind the bridle too, and looks an easy ride.

Yeah, he likes soft/heavy.
Not so keen on good to soft if we believe trainers comments after his race last march.

Looks a big threat though on that performance even if the opposition was not very good.

I was just coming back on here to say I believe his Hatton's Grace Hurdle win was better than today, so if you liked him off the back of that then that's when he should have been backed.

The fact he's now 3/1 is absolutely laughable, but handy for the rest of the market prices.

I would have expected the top 8 in the betting to beat those lot the way he did today, and I say top 8, because number 8 is Saint Sam, and he did beat Summerville Boy by 19 lengths last time out, so it's there anyway as form.

I literally couldn't see an opponent for Teahupoo today, I said as much the other day on here, and I was right, he didn't really have any opposition to beat. Class horses can beat s**t over any trip IMO, he still has stamina to prove in a top race for me.

Now this is a much more measured and accurate response from a teahupoo backer, i couldn't agree more with your observations

Well if he does go on and win then im taking full credit for it as i put him up for the stayers on the 9th nov 2021 and you all laughed at me, destroyed me ,couldnt leave the house for weeks. Always important to question form and whether race results look better than they actually are, but his only job today was to hit the line hard and emphatically state that he enjoys 3m - passed with flying colours IMO.

Main thing for me is he’s made the race more interesting.
Could do with a couple more imo.

The form is atrocious, the race has next to no creditability for a Stayers Hurdle, not historically either I don't believe. His win in the Hattons Grace was much better, but I don't remember many getting as giddy as they seem to be after the race today.

He already has the best form so what he beat today doesnt matter too much

His win over klassical dream and honeysuckle, is by far the best piece of form this season in staying hurdles in britain or ireland

He has one question left to answer now we know the trip isn't a bother (I personally think he will be better over 3 miles) is the ground

I definitely wouldn't back him at his current price because of the uncertainty regarding the ground

But am very happy to have him in the book at 12s

If it comes up soft i think hes almost a certainty if flooring porter doesnt run and will go off 6/4

I think you're right in terms of the bare form, its nothing to shout about but with a view to how easily he's won, I'm not sure speculating over whats 15L+ back in behind has much merit. When you have Honeysuckles scalp on your CV you don't need to win today by 90L, you just need to stay well and hit the line hard which he did - he's just a contender, thats all.

Yeah, I said this was pretty much the case in the post you replied to For me you either back him off the back of the Hattons Grace win or don't bother, so fair enough if that is why you or anyone else got involved, but it was very much a typical over reaction, IMO, to todays performance, not just on here, but in general.

Honestly, what would today really prove? That he could beat some absolute out of form old timers over 3m. It's nothing form. Yes, he technically has raced over 3m now, but how much of a 'race' was it, like really. There's little proof he can stay the 3m test of the Stayers, and he's been claimed as the Stayers Hurdle winner already on certain platforms.

There's just a massive contrast from winning a Stayers Hurdle and a Galmoy Hurdle, absolutely massive, and that's based on Flooring Porter not turning up, it's even more of a test if he does.
